Yellow streaks in bleached red oak floors

Does anyone know what is causing the yellow highlighter colored streaks in our floors? This is a small section at the entrance of our kitchen that is original red oak flooring (not certain what timeframe it was installed but the house is about 100yrs old). We had our contractor use the same process as on our new red oak floors - hydroxide and hydrogen peroxide bleach - expecting to get similar results, but it came out much lighter than the new flooring and it has these yellow streaks that look really bad. The photos are of the transition from original flooring to new flooring, some close-ups of the yellow streaks, and one of the original flooring before renovation.

Remnants of the old finish. Need to sand deeper.

It also could be bleached again in that same spot until you get a desired lighter color just make sure that you use half water n half vinegar solution to stop the bleaching process. Then lightly sand Forest green and put your sealer on

I ended up going with special walnut. One coat with a satin water based poly (not shiny). We love it. After the floor stainer put samples down of the lighter colors it really did look pink. I feared having my whole house “being ruined” so I went with the “safer” color and I couldn’t be happier. Someone gave me the advice that most of your hardwood floors will be eventually covered by area rugs anyways so no need to stress! The picture was taken at night with overhead lighting on. Not the best time to take a photo but you get the idea! Good luck!!!

There is some pink and in different times of day with different light you can see a little more... however the floors overall came out wonderful; it feels more uniform in tone and the combo we used didn't bring out the different grain which was important to us. Some of the other combos of darker stains highlighted the graining. I am happy with the outcome. I couldn't trust our floor person to do the Red Out or other sorts of preconditioning i.e.Nordic Seal. I wasn't sure of their level of training and the conversation didn't get further with trying those products. So this is just the 3:1 two coats of Duraseal fruitwood and country white. The 3:1 ratios is "easy" to get the ratios exact in case we need to do the stain again. Then 2 coats of water poly. I can't seem to get the photos to upload. Will have to try another time.

Our floors are currently red oak with a very bright orange/yellow look to them (they’re about 20 years old). We plan to refinish them when we replace the carpet in our living room with hardwood. I’m hoping for a light/coastal look and have read bleaching them can eliminate any pink in the red oak. Our PM also mentioned water based poly is the way to go. Anyone have experience bleaching red oak coupled with water based poly? Or has anyone taken a different route to get a nice light look with red oak? Any insight/pics would be appreciated!

I have been doing a ton of research on doing this in my house I’m just so scared that I’m gonna jack up my floors I have all the right products to do it do you have any advice and how your contractor did The application and drying process
