Design Help? Large LivingRoom Furniture Layout? See Pic!
Comments (16)JuniperSt - we moved into a home with a very large great room also - overall size: 29â² long x 27â² wide. I actually ended up submitting the space and dimensions to Ballard Designs design team and they came up with a space plan for me with recommended pieces. I did select a couple of their pieces, but mostly wanted the space plan. I thought they did a great job. Instead of the dining table and console I did bookcases along that wall (where the console was suggested) and did two chairs with a table between in front of the bay window. You could submit your space to them and get some ideas that way - it's free! I did find the key to making the space work and be intimate was to define different spaces. This is also a major walk-through, so needed to be mindful of that. Oh, btw, our tv is huge - it needed to be in order to see it from the sectional. The link to my space is below. http://www.howtodecorate.com/2013/06/furniture-arrangement-in-large-great-room/...See Morehelp me design my livingroom furniture layout
Comments (2)Okay, I'm going to take you at your word that you're actually asking for input. Also assuming that you're in the process of… what? building? finishing this space? A long space that is brick all around will always be lacking for light, so any way you can get light into this place. Also with a long narrow space that has to work as both living/dining will need you to set 'zones' and create a visual divider. Lighting will be crucial. Create a conversation space, a dining space—and with the door opening directly into the room, don't put any furniture immediately so as to create an entry space (although a credenza or narrow table against the inside wall would be good for keys etc.)...See MoreFurniture Layout and Design Help!!!
Comments (7)I will assume that the room with kitchen and living room combined is 17 x 11? I would find a low console so that the TV appears smaller, invest in a sectional that is sleek and comfy with a round cocktail table and possibly an arc lamp coming out of the corner, or one end table with a lamp on one side and floor lamp on the other side. large art work over the sofa on the biggest wall. Area rug to define the sitting area. I would invest in a banquette type table with the banquette built on the wall where the dining table is now, a narrow rectangular table and a pair of chairs opposite the banquette. Again art work above banquette. Consider a small stainless steel commercial island on wheels for the center of the kitchen that will function for every day but be set up for a bar if you have a party. Sleek stainless steel type knobs on the cabinets. Invest in SS appliance one at a time if you must; it brightens the kitchen so much and adds reflective surfaces that bounces more light around the room.....I did black and so regret it and am changing over to ss now. haha. Just visuals I found on Houzz; maybe will inspire you? It will also help if you can tape off sizes of furniture that will fit in your area when you go shopping...... Good luck! Keep pics coming! You have a nice open space to work with and that makes it a bit ea!...See MoreIn need of furniture layout and design help
