Kitchens Remodeling Design Dilemma

quartz countertop seam + chip concerns

We had our new countertops installed today after months of waiting. I was so excited to have step one of our kitchen update completed! But unfortunately I can’t help but feel disappointed in the seams and the repair of a chip. Am I being unrealistic or should this have been done better?
(The seam in the last photo is much better. Main concern is the seam/chip shown in first 3 pics)

That is unacceptable. They should have cut the chip off and made the seam with factory specified color match methacrylate adhesive; it's not too late. The seam looks too wide also. Place a straightedge over the seam please. It should not rock nor should there be a dip.

It does not look good, it needs to be fixed.

These are my pics of my countertops placed Friday June 22, 2018. I cried looking at these seams. It looks so cheap. Fabricator explains that's the way it comes. I explained that I shouldn't be able to see the seams so clearly. It looks so unprofessional. They ended up taking them back to their warehouse. In hopes they say if it is quality control will try and fix it just to make it look better. Otherwise I will have to pay an additional fee for them to come out again to install. I just don't know what to do and if still looks the same. This is the first time I've replaced my counters in 24 years. I don't and can't live with it. looking at this for another 24 years. It looks so cheap and it really was not it's a lot of money to me. I hope fingers crossed that they will fix this problem. They never told me that there would be such seams. I thought the edges were done by a machine and it would be all one piece. I have read up on this and now understand there are seams. But now I do know that they should not look like this. If they are good fabricator you shouldn't be able to see them so clearly. I will find out next week what happens.

Since engineered stone isn't cut from blocks, I don't know why sequential slabs would necessarily book-match. The only book matched engineered stone I've ever seen was at a trade show and was Chinese: These four huge natural stone slabs were cut from the same block in sequence, which is why they book-match so spectacularly.

That is not good. Have you paid yet? Talked to your installer? A professional should be able to come back and make that look better. At the bare minimum they should be able to match the color and get rid of the glue mess.

HU: HD contracts with different fabricators all across the country. They like to award all the work in a particular state to a single fabricator.

Thank you all for validating my concerns 😞 Hopefully we can get this corrected without too much hassle.

I believe that chip happened during install… is this a common problem? I unfortunately noticed another chip on the other seam….

I am a fabricator. I'd bet the chip was caused during the move of parts from shop to truck or truck to your cabinets. A chip like that could've been fixed much better in the shop and a corner chip like that happens most typically during handling. As other have said it needs to be fixed much better or replaced.
