You really have four options: 1. bite the bullet and paint the trim -- probably Decorator white in a semi-gloss, 2. paint the ceiling to match the current trim, 3. paint the ceiling with Dry Sage at a reduced value (10-30%), 4. paint the ceiling in one or more complimentary colors -- grey blue or pale gold come to mind as possibilities. You could go very dark in a room you want to be more dramatic and to sparkle a chandelier against (bedroom or DR, most likely). I favor 1 or 3. You could take a little of the dry sage and mix it into some decorator white to make a sample with what you have left over -- try it along a section of the crown. If you don't like it and another color doesn't sound more interesting, back to square one and painting trim white.

Changed tiles to 600x600mm porcelain creamy offwhite ..Got a new IKEA kitchen and my Mrs added her artistic touches by adding handmade brass pendant lights from the old souks of Cairo plus some Turkish tiling (and indirect lights) Let us know what you think..

Just painted our whole home SW Softer Tan. Maison Blanche was 2nd option but with our lighting, it was too light. We did everything the same color; ceilings in flat and walls in low luster (all low luster in baths). Trim in SW Dover White. I love it. Such a beautiful change from flat and scuffed up builder's griege from from two owners ago. We chose the same colors for both wall and ceiling because it's a smaller space, moderately high ceilings and desire for continuity. Without ceiling crown moulding the transition would be stark and weird. I feel white on the ceiling is best with stronger wall colors; Maison Blanche is not that. However a white ceiling color such as Greek Villa would allow MB to have a role. We accidentally purchased MB (long story) and rolled it on the ceiling; it was so light, it could be have been a ceiling paint for a darker color.

Try using Farrow & Ball paint in the color "Blackened". This is a pale ,pale blue (it looks almost white in the can) that will make your ceilings recede. It is a true neutral and goes with almost everything. Tip: Buy a small sample and paint in on posterboard. Once it dries tape it to the ceiling.
