Second Trunk Club
Comments (29)Eld. no extra discounts from Nordstrom-- but I did get an item at a reduced cost because it had gone on sale before it arrived. Also, I do get my fee back if I purchase something. I went with Trunk Club because I buy quite a bit from Nordstrom already-- and based on what I saw from others, Stitch Fix didn't seem to be my style. Thanks again for your sweet wishes, Tartan! <3 I am to the point that I am not all that scared-- I mean, I have been living with this for a few years. It's frustrating but I know I can survive and manage ok even if it isn't fixed. That said, it IS limiting-- and expensive between ubers and deliveries and surgeries and glasses-- so I hope it IS the fix....See MoreJuly Trunk Club
Comments (24)My trunk arrived this morning-- it was to arrive yesterday but extreme weather/thunderstorms delayed it. I thought I would keep at least 3 items (TB ribbon flip flops, the Eileen Fisher long sleeve Tee and the scarf.. but I am only keeping the scarf. So sorry, this was not the best trunk to start sharing with you all-- but that's how it goes. Sometimes I keep 3-5 items.. and sometimes 1 to none! I won't walk through each item but will target a few reasons I returned the rest. Shoes: The Tory Burch flip flops are adorable but run small. I am a solid size 10 in most shoes-- 9.5 in some limited brands. I should have known better-- but all my Tory Burch shoes are either 10.5 or 11. The Ugg shoes are nice-- but make my size 10 feet look like 2 bricks. The superga mules are a favorite style-- but in the mules, they are too wide/too big to stay on my feet. The length is fine. Tops: The Eileen Fisher is not the shirt i thought it was-- this is a thin jersey/nylon. I thought I ordered the 100% cotton. I swapped this for one they suggested so totally my error. The Vince button down is a great fabric.. light weight but nice quality. The lapel was just too big in such a lightweight fabric. It looks sloppy (perhaps because i unbuttoned it pretty far-- but that's how I'd wear it) BP 100% cotton sweater - as i suspected it is too short and too wide. It is a nice soft cotton but it cuts me right at the belly and so emphasizes that area. Accessories: Leather Tote - it is just tooooo unstructured. I love the soft leather but i fear i would beat it up too much. Also, it had a terrible smell! I am not overly sensitive to smells.. i have never provide feedback on anything being smelly .. but this was bad and not a leather smell. I did order the Athleta cardigan Sue shared above-- in the same violet blue color. Hoping it works out well. My trunk will be picked up tomorrow-- next one is scheduled for mid-August. I will definitely be looking for some fall transitional pieces....See MoreFunky's Sept Trunk Club
Comments (24)Sue.. I have a number of tops from Free People and a couple from Anthro (both the same parent company? I think?). I really love the styles but I have to be careful because many are to short in the torso. I have a long torso to begin with then extra lbs don't help. Both are overpriced for the quality but I pay for the more carefree style. JT.. love the color of the sweater and that it is 100% cotton. That's perfect for fall. I don't think it looks all that short (I am 5'6" also) .. the thing that would keep *me* from buying it is the arms. I have broad shoulders (big bone structure everywhere-- but especially broad shoulders). I think the puffy sleeves accentuate my shoulders in an unflattering way... in a way that shoulder pads never did. Those wide and puffy sleeves make me feel like the michellan man! If your family member is pretty average build, i think the sweater would be lovely. I don't shop ASOS.. I don't have a good or strong reason why but i find their website to be cumbersome/overwhelming. I DO shop places other than nordstrom/trunk club lol.. but there is no doubt that their sales/return process are so easy that I do use them a lot. Other shopping spots: NM, Free People, Anthro, Eileen Fisher, Nic + Zoe and that's about it these days. I used to shop J.jill and Talbots but I haven't bought much from either in the last year. I am not a fan of Torrid or Lane Bryant or any of the other plus size stores. I am plus size but their proportions don't often work for me and I think the quality is inconsistent and more often less than I want....See MoreFunky's November Trunk Club
Comments (23)OK.. i have received my trunk and tried everything on. Unfortunately, the black pants that i declined then requested did not make it into the trunk :(. Also, the scarf sent was a completely different pattern that I did not like... so no further reporting on either of those. On the Fence.. need to decide over the weekend: 1. Vince Camuto Asymmetrical Sweater - I really didn't think I'd like this.. it definitely has a bit of that acrylic feel but it isn't too bad. It is BIG more oversized than i expected (and Vince Camuto often runs small on me). I am just having a hard time swallowing $124 for an acrylic sweater-- even if it is only a small percentage of acrylic. Still.. it's really kinda cute on. 2. Open Edit Relaxed Cardigan - This is also running big on me .. in fact, all but one of the sweaters was bigger than i expected. Still, i like it and it is perfect for this time of year. I am only on the fence about the whether to exchange for a smaller size. 3. Eileen Fisher Ribbed Cardigan - I do like this cardigan-- but not as much as the brown one i bought last year. The ribs are a little wider which I don't like as much. I love the color but still deciding if i want to pay the price or wait to see if it goes on sale as the holidays approach $248. Will I be crushed if it sells out before holiday sales? I don't think so.. but that's what I need to confirm before I return it. It's also a bit big. Why are all the sweaters big?? I don't think I've lost more weight. 4. NYDJ Marilyn Straight Leg Jeans - a size smaller than I've worn in the past which is good-- but i feel like if i lose more I will quickly size out of them. Also, i don't like the worn thigh look -- and I especially don't like the look on thick thighs. I could use a pair of jeans to wear until i lose some additional weight and they are on sale.. but I am betting I return them. For those who were waiting to see what I thought of the brand and style, I do think they are pretty proportional (not always the case with NYDJ) and there is a LOT of stretch so I think they could adapt to different body shapes. I pointed out the faded thigh/knee area but what I didn't see before receiving them is that there is some slight destruction in the upper left hip area. It's pretty minimal but for those who were considering them for "wear jeans to work" days, I wanted to point it out. I wouldn't wear even slightly destructed jeans to work. I would recommend the jeans.. just not this wash (Heron). They are slightly long-- I'd have to wear them with boots (i am 5'6" but with short legs) Definite items to return: Keen boot looked huge on my foot-- huge and wide like a man's work boot. Disappointed but now i know! Plus, I recently bought LLBean Moc booties so they will serve my needs for now. Returning. Eileen Fisher Funnel Neck sweater in Cypress - lovely textured wool fabric, i like the color quite a bit but the sweater was too boxy and shapeless. Not flattering at all. Returning. Gathered A-line tank - really disliked the pattern and who wears sleeveless in Nov? Returning. Birkenstock Suede Boot - i never shared this because i had no intention of trying it on.. and i did not. Returning....See Morededtired
