After having such a horrible experience with the Kenmore electric range, I am afraid to try Kenmore again. Still have some extended warrranty left which will transfer to the Samsung. I have had great luck with my other Samsung appliances, so I hope I do with the range also. My husband laughed at me when I told him that the appearance of the Kenmore just left me cold, but when he saw it, he felt the same way. Blah. Can't put my finger on why. gscience chick, after baking I usually leave my oven door cracked open in the winter anyway for the heat boost to the kitchen. My son uses Circulon Infinite pans on his induction and really likes them. (Interesting to get cooking advice from my son!) In browsing the net, Circulon has a 25% off sale this month as well as deep discounts on the Infinite (looks like Symmetry will be replacing it). I found an 11 inch skillet for roughly $18 and a twin pack 10 and 12 skillet for $36 (Symmetry), etc. Then on the potsandpans.com website I was able to find the 3qt saucepan for a really good price. I have a few pots and pans that I can use from before (I hope). Two of them have 8 3/4" bases - hope I can use them . . . I love my Calphalon Contemporary saucepans and hate to lose them, but I see that they are coming out with a Contemporary IH line (induction friendly) - in Australia, but not here yet. Maybe soon . . .? Guess my life is kind of dull when I can get so excited about a new range! Any hints and suggestions will be appreciated!

Are you sure it takes 9 taps to go to high? My Electrolux, after turning the burner on, immediately jumps to high if the + button is pressed and low if the - button is pressed. The only time multiple taps are needed is if you want a moderate power level, and even then you can get around it by holding the button down. The interface is super responsive and easy to use. It doesn't bother me at all.

3Katz that is wonderful information. Just the kind I am looking for. I too will be going from a double wall oven to a range, though my ovens are so old, anything, except the noise, would be better! I have opted for more counter space rather than the wall ovens. Glad to know the warming drawer can help out when needed. I know the ergonomics of wall oven vs range oven, but I also remember my mother in her 90's only using the bottom of a double oven or a toaster oven, because lifting into a waist high wall oven was too difficult for her. And she shrank in height quite a bit. Cooktop placement sounds very good. I have a small Staub pot which is only 5 inches, it might work. Pippiep, great! Glad to hear there is another model out there without the fan noise! I had thought of looking at the Bosch, but have been scared off by the reports of a loud fan. Plus there isn't a dealer in my area, which I find very odd. Glad you found some quiet in your kitchen! You mentioned small pans worked, do you think a 5 inch pan would work on any of your burners?

@lynne3450 Which one did you ultimately get? If you go t the cafe, would you mind sharing your setup, I am curious as to how it looks in a non-showroom kitchen. I think the price difference is because of the material used and smaller production run. @katj461 There is a comprehensive thread on induction range if you search "induction range" that briefly talks about them. I've heard the kitchenaid takes 30 minutes to preheat because of the large oven size and has a weird control.
