I think a couple of nice chairs and an end table would be awesome then some stools at the island since you have the over hang. BTW I hate beches at tables in homes they barely work in a park and mostly for kids. Some art on that wall to the left and you would have a nice spot for a morning coffee or afternoon wine with a friend,

I love your mock up! Super clever. But I would not put anything larger than a 2 Person bistro set there. It’s a tight squeeze getting around the wine cooler to the wall seating, and god forbid you block the wine cooler ! 😳. I have a similar set up in my kitchen, and we never sit at the table - it’s where everything gets dumped when we walk in the back door. We always sit at the counter. If your kitchen was my kitchen, we would probably dump on the table and sit at the counter.

I think a bench or banquet with a rectangular or square table will be more functional and a better use of space.
Round table would look great as well. But give you less seating.
If you go round I think it would be very cool to use that tree with a glass top. Obviously done by a pro.

Everyone’s feedback is amazing. Here are a few photos from original design concept. I think we decided against the nook bench because I wasn’t ready to spend $1600+top of benches. Ioved the concept of more storage but was uneasy that the built in would look too “structured” and limit the space permanently. I honestly thought the Bench might be so uncomfortable.

Ps. I wish I lived in those beautifully designed homes, but I’m so grateful at how far we have come. Learned so much and have a long way to go on learning to decorate. I would have chose a different color island and counter top for sure looking back. Now I am getting smarter and reaching out for help.

Your kitchen island and countertop are lovely!!! Don’t second guess your decisions! Anyone who can come up with a test table using a tree limb has my vote for creative! Please promise you will use that limb as a small drinks table base, topped with a tray of some sort, ok? 😉

OK, I think you have space for a round table and 3-4 chairs. But I would put a console table to the right of the door to dump stuff!

So clever to put that faux table together. I would consider a drop leaf table and two simple chairs for everyday use and open fully for bar set up for entertaining. Some examples.

A little back story of the tree limb: my brother in law, Mike saved this piece of wood in his Oregon home before he passed away suddenly and unexpectedly last year. We helped the family move my sister back home to IL and I couldn’t leave this wood behind. Leave it to “ol Mike” to find beauty amd art in a piece of wood. I suppose Mike had something in mind to build like a birdhouse or add to his garden with a flower pot or maybe feed the humming birds. I’ll never know. Mike was a gourmet chef, outdoorsman, nature lover, fisherman, photographer and swell guy.
It’s only fitting I will save this trunk to make a little end table suggested. (Thank u’)
Every time I see it, I smile. And all the comments made me giggle at the thought of Mike laughing at us in heaven too.

Crate and Barrel might even try to copy the concept and then I’ll be able to afford expert design advice finally. Kidding of course.
