Oven Range on Island - What is needed behind it?

Right now I have an oven in a counter with bar seating behind it. I am wanting to remodel the kitchen, new cabinets/appliances/etc, however, what I would REALLY love to do is move the cabinets back a couple inches to give us a little more room to maneuver in the kitchen. There is currently a half wall behind the base cabinets and I'm trying to determine whether or not the base wall is really necessary? When replacing everything, could we take out the half wall and move the cabinets and oven range back the four inches that are currently occupied by the wall? I would make a world of difference in the kitchen! I don't know really whether that half wall is necessary for electrical and gas hook ups? It's pretty tight along the right side of the picture as it is and protruding another 4 inches would make it worse if we had to reinstall the half wall as well. Basically could we just put a back panel behind the new cabinets/oven and recover those 4 inches?
