Notch and grout line sizes?
Comments (4)Bill, Thanks for the response. The glass tile is just a touch over a quarter inch and the marble is 3/8. SO I assume I need to build up the morter(white)behind the glass. Maybe by back buttering? The plan is to run the 4x12 glass vertically in a brick pattern. The concept is this, for the bottom row of the back shower wall. The marble is 12x12. It would be marble - 3 of the glass tiles vertically (the middle one cut in half to start the brick pattern)- marble - 3 of the glass tiles - marble. That pattern is repeated 6 rows high. The 2 side walls are just marble....See MoreFramer Notched & Cut Out my LVL, Is this right???
Comments (31)There is no aspect of adult life where you wouldn't benefit from being your own advocate unless you hire someone to act independently in that capacity. For building construction architects and engineers normally provide that service to owners but in homebuilding most owners believe that service is redundant and expect the builder to act in their best interest even when that would not be in the builder's best interest. It's an approach that works quite well until something important goes wrong. Then, the "owner pays", which is the first rule of construction law. You would be able to sue the engineer for those ridiculous drawings if he was hired by you. The builder is usually required by his contract to notify the owner and engineers of such obvious drawing discrepancies but if he wrote the contract that requirement would almost certainly be absent. Are engineers in your area not required to inspect structural work before it is covered up? Why wouldn't the builder want that to be done? Contrary to popular opinion that is not the responsibility of a building inspector. I have an engineer look at even simple engineered beams and have often been surprised at the mistakes he has found that no one had noticed. On a construction site, being your own advocate is often not enough....See MoreNotching railing posts
Comments (2)Yes. I'll post a few tonight if I get a chance... Definately get the Anchor Seal wood sealant. This stuff will crack a day or so after you cut it. Otherwise if you order from East Teak try and get all 16' stock, it was easier to work with and straighter than the 12' stuff which was much more dense. I don't have a finish on it yet but it sure looked pretty being all wet the other day after a rain......See MoreHelp me kick up this boring living area a notch or two!
Comments (19)Move the secretary off the entry wall over to the other side of the room. I have moved the secretary to the short wall, centered the chairs in front of your window and placed the floor lamp and end table to the corner. All you need is a rug like you selected that has more blue in it. I love your rug design. I think it adds a very nice texture to your room. https://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden/Unique-Loom-Nyhavn-Harbour-Copenhagen-Area-Rug-7-x-10/18082410/product.html...See MoreUser
