OMG!OMG!OMG! This is it! or pretty darn close! I have searched extensively for this block since it first appeared. I have even bought a pattern - nope - not it ---I drafted a block, but never got around to making it...... Donna just posted the BOM from YOUR! Guild! Kate! on a BOM site request. Looking under "star log cabin quilt pattern" I did find it for sale on amazon.com. Although I can't tell for sure, it looks like it might be the only pattern in the book. I didn't plan it this way, but ends up that I have the sewing machine in the kitchen (on the table, next to the window & the best daytime light), while the iron & ironing board are in the living room in front of the computer & the TV. I don't iron anything other than my quilting, so otherwise the iron never comes out. Now that I seem to quilt multiple projects at the same time, I never close the ironing board, much less put it away. I too think it best to have to walk btwn the two, I like the break & the exercise. On wknds, if I don't go out that becomes my only form of exercise. After 20 yrs. or so of word processing, it's very clear to me I'm at my best when I get up & down very often. Now that I'm in my 50s, I find that's even more the case than before, otherwise my knees get too stiff. I've never done a Log Cabin & something tells me y'all are scaring me off it! LOL!

Thank you, I too am more of an 'unfit' (hehe) person. The plan posted above the KD did looks cold n too modern as is, but won't when I am done with it. Although I will make some suggested changes. Learning a lot on here, a lot of different options, whether I use them (in total) or otherwise. I have always been one to consider and want to know all options... I will post pics along the way, it's fun to share thoughts etc. and really enjoy others comments. It's fun just looking at lots of things here, whether I comment or not. Much more fun than FB for poking around! I am relieved to have my appliances picked out, course until ordered one never knows. Will look thru the appl feed here on GW some more. I have one more line of cabinetry, InnerMost by Elkay that I might prefer that looks quite nice to me. Need to make appointment w/KD with them.... HDepot. Anyway, am feeling confident after all the discussions here and more excited to proceed...
