Favorite lentils/beans and their sources

What are your favorite types of lentils and beans, and from where do you buy them? Canned or dry?

In my prime cooking years for my family, half of us didn't care for beans, so I always resorted to easy canned beans. I'm a mostly empty nester now, need more protein in my diet, and am interested in incorporating more lentils and beans.

I'm willing to shop online, but I do live in a major metropolitan area (Chicago), and so have access to a variety of stores.

Specifically, does anyone cook with mung beans, which I understand do not need to be soaked? I'm willing to soak any type, but am curious about this bean.
