Need to zing up my bedroom
Comments (14)Lovely color and great furniture. I agree to remove the basket from atop the armoire. It's too light for what you have going. And, the window scarf is not doing it for me. I think a lot of "bling" could be done with that window. Even if there were sheets to match your duvet, could a window treatment be fashioned out of one of them? Something with substance and a bit of the green trim - even picking up the stripe from your pillows. Speaking of pillows, the first thing I thought of was something along the lines of queen-size pillows in the brown with a pretty green monogram on them. Something more substantial than your small-ish toss pillows. As to the lamps, the one on the dresser may have to find a new home somewhere. Maybe that could be incorporated onto the top of the armoire if you get something like a large plate in a stand (easel), etc. to balance things up there. Then you could put something "bling-y" lamp-wise on your dresser. Question: do you have no need for a clock on your bedside table? As to artwork - not sure the photos will give you the bling you're looking for. Try thinking of soft botanical prints (think calandars) that you could frame 6 of them maybe and hang....See MoreWall art to warm up my bedroom?
Comments (17)You could consider adding 70s heavy texture to the bed instead of macrame to the walls. Think Anthropologie levels of texture. You won't need alot, say one long lumbar,2 coral velvet, and a throw. Then a couple more soft coral accents (Pantone's new colour of the year) and a tiny bit of Yves Klein Blue. These small additions would make a large impact in your mostly neutral space and not let your headboard boss 'em. Basically, a palette like this work done by Lola Donaghue over at etsy. https://www.etsy.com/listing/244405243/abstract-print-large-giclee-print-beige?ref=shop_home_active_42...See MorePlease help me spruce up my bedroom decor!
Comments (4)I do think you have too much that matches. For art, I'd get what you love and not worry about whether it's the same size or "coordinates" or anything else. You might do a small gallery wall on one side (including one or two 3-dimensional pieces), and a large image (canvas or framed) on the other. But whatever you decide, don't go out and look for "art." Look for what you love; maybe you already have it! I'd replace at least one of the lamps with something different since the nightstands appear to be the same. (Again, something you love.) If it's you and your partner you can each decorate or keep on your nightstand what works for you be it a plant, pictures, water pitcher, books, reading glasses, etc. These should be your individual islands that work for you and less a "decorating surface." If the colors work for you, great! But I find them dull and uninteresting. (That said, I despise browns and beiges and grays so take my advice for what it is worth.) What colors turn you on? Use some of them in wallpaper, paint, curtains, pillows, comforter....See MoreNo romance in this bedroom! How to bring back the lovin'? :)
Comments (4)My first thought for that wall is a grasscloth. Some texture and colour. Here are some examples This one is beautiful and serene looking. Kind of a blue green that is very pretty and would work well with your wood headboard This one has a bit of pattern in it and looks great against the headboard, which is similar tone to yours This black is SO gorgeous. Imagine this with creamy bedding and the other walls a creamy colour too. I think your bedside table needs to be taller. It is nicest when they are at least as high as the mattress, or higher IMO. You could definitely do wall mounted lamps. The swing arm ones are lovely and so convenient so you can position them when you want to read etc. If you like wallpaper instead, then consider filling the wall with mural paper, rather than a repeating pattern. Imagine the bedding choices you could have if any of these were a feature wall behind your headboard. Ok, this one is a bit different, but you never know....it might be really great with some other modern pieces in the room....See MoreUser
