the kitchen situation will be fine. Its the connection you will have between garage entrance issues melding w front door right there. I'd move the stove closer to the corner and maybe do a tall cabinet at end of counter run....by the garage door ...facing the other closet and do whatever works for you like cubby holes..some hooks....etc. maybe if you pulled the main closet out from the front wall and behind it install a similar thing right when you walk in from the garage......how much are you willing to engineer the closet and the end of the kitchen run to transform into this type of thing. You have, two entrances in close proximity and only the one small closet. But the wall removal would be okay if you ask me...maybe a little project could be done later w regards closet etc but maybe better figure it out now. Is the reason to remove the wall for enlarging? the kitchen currently is not shown very well so the exact problem you are addressing isnt clear. when you say to open it up...it already looks that way...quite wide and open but perhaps some wasted space where rug is etc........my hunch is you want more sq footage for task zone but your reveal of current situation isnt great. maybe you are getting a bigger island??? but what else???

Yes the wall feels like it’s creating a passage where that grey rug is and doesn’t utilize the space well. Plus the peninsula island doesn’t give a good dining area.
If I break the wall- it will give me a island as per image #3, and give me a decent dining area and I could use the space where the rug is to have some chairs etx

More pictures of the kitchen space will help. It doesn't seem like you are gaining that much for a major undertaking of removing a load-bearing wall. The dining area is the grey rug currently, how will opening yield you more? There currently doesn't seem like that much space between the end of the penisula and wall to the family room to have dining space. Now you will get rid of a wall, make an island and get rid of the storage included in the wall space to give you the opportunity to put some chairs where the grey rug is? Plus, have a very strange layout with the garage door , closet and front door. You really should investigate a local architect/kitchen designer especially since you are thinking of removing a load-bearing wall, it will save you a lot of headache down the road.

Can you take pictures of the entryway. I might consider adding a mudroom so that you don’t enter straight into the kitchen.

I do agree with the other points and might consider reworking more of the floorplan.
At first glance I might use the living room as the kitchen.
I think that would be a much more functional layout but certainly the pricier option

The floor plan is useless post a to scale floor plan showing all measurements and all windows doorways where the doorways lead and I assume right now where the gray rug is is the DR so really you enter into the DR if I am reading this right . To scale on graph paper makes it easier for you to do and also for us to read.

Is there any way you can create an entry hall with access to it from both front porch and from the garage and with closet access from that entry hall but then have only one door from the entry hall into the house? The house could still be "open" concept but you could have a barrier between garage noise and fumes/odors.

You might draw the total space to scale on graph paper with doors and windows indicated and spaces labeled and with measurements indicated. Then post that and get some help from the pros.
