Center vessel sink or push back against backspash

last month

What does everyone think about placing a rectangular vessel bathroom sink either against the backsplash to eliminate the gap or centered front to back? The sink I will be using has a depth of ~15.5 inches (with ~0.5 in. backsplash).

If I push it back against the backsplash, there will be about 5 to 6 inches of countertop space in the front. If I center the sink from front to back, there will be about 2.5 to 3 inches of countertop space in the front.

Thanks everyone.

Some pictures I found online for reference.
