soaking clothes in LG wave force top loader
Comments (14)julescap, I may be the Soaking Queen here, lol. So I won't discourage you from soaking your laundry. I soaked laundry for years in a traditional washer, just filled up the washer with laundry, clothes, and detergent and let it agitate a few minutes before stopping the washer. That was easy and effective. Using that much water, I could use some Clorox when soaking white cottons, and never had a problem. With an HE washer (I have an HE TL too), though, it's very different because it uses so much less water. Clorox is definitely harsher in less water, at least in my experience with an HE washer. With this washer, my white cottons come out just as white when I soak them in true HOT water (my washer has an internal heater), Tide powder with bleach (non-chlorine), and OxyClean. I follow the same routine of loading the washer, dosing detergent and OsyClean, let it wash a few minutes, then press Pause. If the laundry is really grungy (like my dh's and ds's sports, outdoors hobby and work clothes), I sometimes let them soak all night with no problem at all. Another poster who used to post quite regularly said she got great results from soaking, too -- she was quite the advocate. But I haven't seen her posting in some time. Comments (46)Experienced same problem. NOT HAPPY WITH SAMSUNG It’s been less than a year since we bought top loading active jet washing machine. We placed an order so the unit would come before we moved in, but I wish I did not rush and did more research on reviews. 1. It did not come with manual and the washing machine we bought is WA50R5400AW Without manual, without internet start up in new home, could not print manual. It was inconvenient. Why would this big company like Samsung not send paper manual?? Although I can start the machine without the manual, I wanted to read it so I can figure out how all settings work and why i am having hot/ cold water issuues. No matter what setting I chose, I have similar issues with hot/ cold/ warm water. On permanent wash, it used to take hot water on level 3 which supposed to be warm water, but it started with cold and stayed cold.. but one day suddenly it started hot water after initially filling in cold water. By the time I realized, it was half way filled So I tried to change the settings to 2 from 3, so rest of the water would not be too hot. 👎🏼👎🏼 But, The machine drained all of water and soap since I changed the settings. It does not allow you to reset temps, water level or the cycle. The machine was filled almost 3/4 or more and lost all of the water and soap. And, I ended up restartimg , added more soap and refilled again.. 👎🏼👎🏼 Big disappointment since you can’t change the settings or reset once you select the cycle and start. I wish I had bought simple washing machine one like we had at my rental place. For above issues of hot, warm and cold water, Samsung sent technicians, but they could not figure out eituer. So they called technical support and they said that some settings are factory setting and we can not change temps. however manual says yiu can change . so here i have no resolution. cant wash in just hot, warm or cold whn i need to. They said you can’t change the settings in some cycles, however digital manual says you can change the settings, and so the rep on phone explained the same. I wish I did not buy Samsung. Would stay away and do not recommend anyone Samsung....See MoreClothes coming out of washer how they went in?
Comments (18)Either you people have owned only poor-performing front loaders, or you haven't used them properly, or you and I are living in alternate universes. The PHYSICS of how clothes are cleaned in a front loader, dictates that they will come out cleaner than in your average top loader. If your front loader has way too much water during the wash cycle(s), clothes won't tumble correctly (the MAIN reason a FL cleans so well is the tumbling), or by having a unit that uses far less water than it SHOULD be using, in which case cleaning results will be problematic. Another reason for poor cleaning in a FL is if the unit doesn't get hot enough for the type of load (a pretty common issue, giving all the regulations), in which case you are going to have problems with grease-laden items. You have to choose the right cycle and you have to own a unit that works well, but if you take a properly functioning FL and a TL, the FL is going to clean far more efficiently and completely, due to the way fabrics are tumbled. Sure it takes longer for loads to run, but so what--we aren't running a race. We owned a properly functioning Maytag TL long before Maytag dipped in quality. It never could clean greasy rags well and left a lot of black residue in the tub (at the water line). Our FL never has residue and that's saying a hell of a lot, given the nasty, greasy rags that are periodically washed in it. The one thing I did do to optimize cleaning in our FL was to SLIGHTLY increase the water level. No amount of water level choices, cycle times, water temp choices, ever gave decent results in any of our models of front loaders. Sloshing clothes around in a tub of water just isn't going to get them adequately clean, as compared to tumbling in a horizontal drum with properly sized paddles and the correct amount of water (too much water will keep the clothes floating above the height of the paddles, preventing them from being lifted up and over)....See MoreGasoline soaked clothes
Comments (70)Good. Dolly! I'm happy to hear back from you. So, unbelievably!? Just rinsing them and hanging them outside got rid of most of the stink and odor? Great! Mamapinky, I am a "practical" Yankee. I confess that we buy used washers ($150) and keep them until they can no longer be repaired (30 years). Our current washer is a simple Kenmore. White, near new. $100 and fit in car. It swishes clothes around. Hot or Cold wash. Cold rinse only. Don't think that I'm not envious of people with those handsome front-loading machines on pedestals with a window to view laundry dropping to and fro. I seriously find that nearly as relaxing (watching the laundry through the round, front washer window) as looking at fish in a tank. We have ample spring (deep well) water that gets filtered after use., and returned to its original source. We can use all the water we want, never run out (430' deep well). But, still, I have fond memories of watching laundry fall-through-sudsy-water through the front load window of our old (?) Bendix machine. Call me a cheap date, ;) i also am entertained by running lengths of test fabric through a fast vintage, all-metal sewing machine with an even, quality stitch. Maybe I have an autism gene someplace. I do marvel at well-engineered, well made machinery. It's beautiful to me. I like solving problems and admire others with problem solving skills. So, mamapinky, your stellar laundry skills have not gone un-noticed. Q: can you tell me why every shirt, Tee, or top I wear gets slopped up and stained with whatever it is I eat, drink, slurp or look at? I'm considering buying only complicated paisleys to help hide the spilled coffee, drops of berry jam, blob-stains of grease or oil. I truly try my best to be careful and aware. Maybe I should wear a bib? Sigh....See Moredadoes
