laminate and vinyl planks - different direction

Hi everyone! I’m renovating my condo and due to some last minute issues I’m having to replace my existing tile floor. Due to time constraints (and cost) my contractor suggested vinyl flooring over the existing tile floor.

The issue is that the entryway/foyer leads to the living room - this is the only point where the laminate and vinyl will be next to each other. The laminate for the living room is already purchased and can’t be changed. It’s not an option to run laminate over the tiled area and due to issues with condo soundproofing it’s not an option to run the vinyl through the living room area as well.

I’ve attached samples of the two floors - the darker one is the laminate and the lighter one is the vinyl.

Visually, even with the transition strip, I don’t love it as I don’t feel like there is enough contrast.

What do you guys think about installing the vinyl on a diagonal? I’ve tried to attach an example..the diagonal won’t be side by side to the laminate. It will be above it.
