Removing sealant from fireplace surround.

User

Hello, I have a stone problem.
The stone was placed in 1976, the sealant has yellowed terribly. Its idaho quartz, it should be sand colored. We are having a building boom and no one wants to deal with it. If this were the 90's I could have gone in bought some toxic sludge and stripped it. But I have no idea how to handle this now. I have not put anything on it yet other than hot water and a wire brush (that was a no go).
Side note: we are not remodeling, I'm just trying to find out if I can clean up the stone and get it back to the pretty color it used to be.
Thank you!
