Two roses in one pot

I got a band mini rose this spring and repotted it to a 2G container, but then I found there is another rose in that pot too. It's a different variety, maybe a china. If I want to get the best chance of survival, when is the best time to separate them? Now or next spring? I don't know if the roots are too delicate now, but if I overwinter them, is it more difficult to separate the roots?
