Lost My One Mini Donkey
Comments (4)Bulldinkie - yeah, I can really imagine you bringing her into the house. Our oldest son brought his pony in the house when he was about 3 1/2 years old. DH was sleeping late that Saturday morning. Then.....drum roll.....I heard the loudest holler of "what in the name of **** was that". Smokey had put his cold nose against DH's side. I laughed until I had tears running down my face. You couldn't leave a pickup door open if Smokey was around because he would climb in the cab. I'm so sorry your donkey lost her friend. I certainly know what you mean about it being hard on you to lose them. Hope you get your kidney transplant soon....See MoreNeed an ID of these cute mini palm trees!
Comments (2)Thanks so much for the quick ID! I checked and that's indeed what it is. I think it's going to recover now that it's not coming out of the bottom of a clematis. It's actually going to get some sun this year....See MoreHow in the world does one choose? (long)
Comments (10)I live in the same general area you do. I grow over 400 daylilies and have a number of the ones on your lists. Problem is so many are so new to my garden that I can't give an honest opinion on the performance yet. Here's what I can tell you about the ones I grow... Always Afternoon - I've had for 3 years and it finally took off for me last year. Really gave a show and the blooms lasted a long time. It's really turning out to be a good performer. It just took it's time in getting settled in. Little Grapette - This is another powerhouse bloomer for me. Lots of scapes and lots of blooms and they last for weeks. Pandora's Box - is still just 2 fans and hasn't bloomed for me at all yet and this will be it's 3rd season in my garden. I may have to move it. StarmanÂs Quest - Bloomed a bit the first year I got it then skipped blooming altogether last season. I'll move this one too and see if it makes a difference. Wild Horses - I got this one last year and it gave a real show for a first year plant. This one seems to be a good performer so far. Lake Norman Spider - Just planted this one this week so it's too new to evaluate. So Many Stars - Another one that was new last year and performed very well. Lots of big beautiful blooms held on nice tall scapes. This one is showing it's self to be a keeper. Siloam Double Classic - New last year but gave quite a bit of bloom in it's first season. Not all blooms were double but they were pretty just the same. El Desperado - New to my garden last year but bloomed it's self crazy. This one is already a good performer can't wait to see what it can do when it really gets settled in. Mad Max - New to my garden last fall so I'm hoping it'll perform well this year. Peacock Maiden - First couple of blooms on this one leave a lot to be desired. But the remaining blooms are just gorgeous! Could be because of cool evenings and mornings. Hope this will be a little help with your decisions Joy...See MoreNew Mini Hostas and Need ID on One
Comments (16)lindalana, the leaves feel thin. Not beefy feeling at all. It's such a small plant, but it doesn't feel like it's going to have very thick leaves. nhl, Mighty Mouse is cute! Mine did well for several years in the garden and then faded away. Might have been lack of water, but I'm not sure. Good luck with yours! ....I went into the nursery not wanting to buy any hostas. (Im still waiting on my Naylor's order), so I barely looked at the bigger ones, but they had a whole end cap of minis that stopped me in my tracks. Hostas are hard to resist....See Moreschoolhouse_gwagain
