Magnolia Scale Treatment

Through googling, I think that my magnolia tree/bush has magnolia scale. The attached picture is not my tree but mine looks exactly like this. http://hyg.ipm.illinois.edu/ recommends "An insecticidal spray of acephate (Orthene), insecticidal soap, or summer spray oil at this time controls the crawlers.". Another website, https://extension.unh.edu/blog/why-are-leaves-my-magnolia-turning-black-and-attracting-wasps, recommends "...number of registered pesticides are labelled for use on magnolia scale. Multiple treatments may be necessary to fully eliminate heavy infestations. Wait to spray until the vulnerable crawlers are active in late August through early October."

Does anybody have experience with this? Any recommended treatments different from the above? What pesticides would be best/safest to use? Would it be better to have a professional take care of this? Appreciate any response. Thanks!
