What would you put on this wall?
Comments (16)What a lovely room, and a nice family space! On your wall that you are asking about, I would get a large tapestry - no collections of smaller things. Let the tapestry hang starting at a height that is somewhere between the door frame and the top height of the bookcase, and hang down behind the chair and cabinet a bit. I think this one might be very nice in there (tho I am not sure about the height being sufficient, you would have to measure): seasonal medallion tapestry I would take all the pix off the top of the cabinet, and add a great lamp with some visual weight and perhaps a black shade. Move the tree from out of hiding between the couch and loveseat, and put that in the corner behind the chair. Put a another nice weighty lamp on the end table. Add a patterned colorful pillow to the chair - perhaps take one of the floral print pillows from the loveseat and use that. Keep the two striped and the other floral pillow on the loveseat, and find a new home for the lumbar pillow that is now in the center. Looking around, I think you have a LOT of little things everywhere. The photo wall collection, all the various little things on the shelves. I would like to see you get rid of a few of the little things on the shelves, and add some more groupings of books. I would also get rid of the mirror over the fireplace, as it is another kind of colorless, angular piece, and instead look for a large painting with some color to warm up that wall a bit. Instead of hanging it, I would lean it on the mantel, to connect the mantel to the items above it. Right now the mirror and the two sconces feel as if they are floating a bit....See MoreAccessorizing, I cant do this right (pic) HELP!
Comments (3)I would like to see a grouping or grid of prints OR two medium size artworks ...... I wonder if a tall vertical mirror AND some smaller prints on each side would work??? As wisely stated above -- don't worry about the TV area until you establish this focal point above the sofa ....... Here's a link to designer Phoebe Howard's website -- just click on each of the three big photos to see more of her work .... might be something there to help you ..... Just some thoughts -- hope you don't mind! Jan at Rosemary Cottage Here is a link that might be useful: Phoebe Howard designer site...See MoreWhat would you put on walls for a modern kitchen
Comments (6)If you like the idea of texture but want something modern, check out these paintable wallcoverings. I used a similar product on my kitchen ceiling to replicate old tin. With a couple of coats of flat paint it looks great. The Squares, Curvy, or Corduroy would look great in a modern space. Click on "Paintable Wallpaper" on the left side of the link below. Comments (3)I would relocate the dog bed so the couch can be centered on the wall. Anything you do above the off center couch is going to look odd. Or try switching the chairs with the couch so they can be centered on the wall with art above them. The couch won't look as "off" if it's not centered on windows as it does against a wall....See MoreM M
