Agree with the tall plant in the right corner. Maybe a long dining room console to store china with either a large horizontal mirror or horizontal painting above it.

Some ideas.

Art is very personal so I keyed off rug and kind of farmhouse styling as far as I could see. Here is another piece of art at a great price for 40 x 40”.

I like the paint color on the ceiling! It works with the stain of the furniture.

I would put a mirror on the wall and have it reflect your new chandelier.

Here it is on your wall. I put simple drapery panels at your big window to give a more finished look. Good buy on this lighting too.

Skip the tall plant in the corner. It's not needed and will look crowded. Use either one, two , or three large pieces of art on the wall. Look for something that is meaningful to you that you love.

As others have said, art should be something that you love, that has meaning for you. Whether it's one big piece or several smaller ones, it just needs to be something you love, not something chosen because it matches the cushions or the drapes.

large piece of art. I just gave you something blue to match your rug. And I'd do a really nice light. no plant needed if you get these two options.

If you like the blue, I'd paint the tray portion a soft grayish blue to work w/the rug and other elements in the room. painting it white or the wall color is a waste of design opportunity.

and if you really want to take it up a notch, paint your chairs.

Agreed. One piece of art that is large and that gives the space depth.

Thanks everyone! I really like Mediterranean, Spanish design. I like wood, metal, but on the other hand I enjoy champagne and silver decor. I’m kind of a mixture because I left my very large home and am trying to mesh them into our much smaller retirement home. This is my kitchen table area, again nothing is new all from various rooms of my other house .
The console/ buffet table in my kitchen table room originally was with my “dining” table that I am asking you all about. There just isn’t room for it.

Oh and I need help to put the rug under that round table, it isn’t going to fit where it is

I love mirrors and have 3 large ones but I think it looks odd to float a mirror on a wall with nothing below it? art is ok, but a mirror seems odd. I would need to paint them a new finish as they are all gold, not the nice brushed kind, but very bold.
I feel like the space needs something round

I also have 2 of these candle sconce things if anyone thinks they might work with a mirror, they are 2 feet tall

if you have mirrors you can go horizontal with them.

Have you considered a wall mural -- or as much of one as it would take to fill the space the same height as your windows placed between the window frames?

It's fine to have a mirror on the wall with nothing directly below it, just like a piece of art. A too bright gold frame can be antiqued to darken it. But art would give you some color above the table. I'd skip using the candle sconces, which are fairly dated. I had some very similar ones. Since you're downsizing, this is a good opportunity to really look again at all your accessories and see how you can lighten and freshen your space. You might consider using your buffet that matches the dining table as the sofa table near your dining room - switching it with the shelves that can then go in your breakfast area. The rug looks like it would fit under the round table. Make sure you have enough room for all the chairs to push back from the table and still be on the rug. It's a nice color.

So I find I can’t make a commitment to art, it’s so hard for me, I found this mirror, it’s 6 feet tall , hung on a 12 foot wall. Does it look too barren, I stuck the sconces up, but as someone else stated I think it makes it look dated, so just leave it blank?

I like the mirror.

sconces would work if you got something more modern looking. real sconces, not candles. but it's not necessary.
