This is a rare occasion I disagree with glennsfc. I would run it all left to right. In either the living room or hall it will carry your eye into the room and make each look wider. It will make the family room look deeper. Running it all the same way will aid a look of continuity even though the three areas are separated by the foyer. When there's a debate about floor direction I encourage the customer to lay out a box of material in the doorways in either direction to gauge the look.

I also would advise just doing the wood flooring throughout. If you get good, high end materials wood is surprisingly durable and the new technologies make it a lot more maintenance-free than past products. FWIW I also live in Florida and have engineered HW floors throughout my house including the kitchen and our DR which has French doors that lead to the backyard, and which is the main entry area for most of my foot traffic. Haven't had any problems with dirt or moisture anywhere. Also, if you may be thinking resale it will be a lot more desirable to have the same nice flooring throughout the house. Someday you may have buyers who look askance at two sections of a house with different floors, especially since you say your choice is somewhat unique and would be hard to match down the road. So my advice is get a rug for the craft room and a leak-proof pan for your washer and go with the hardwood. Ann

Wow Lynda, you did great at the Restore! I did browse through one last year out of curiosity. I saw a beautiful antique dresser that was already on hold. I'm sure the antique dealers keep a close eye on those places. You never know when you'll hit it right. Thanks for the idea. Flo, we have someone who would install the LVP for a dollar a board so that's amazing versus our doing it ourselves or paying $3 or so a square foot in NJ for the install as per one of the stores we went into said. We did lay down laminate flooring by ourselves in our family room about 15 years ago and did well It is an easy install- but our basement is much bigger than our family room and we are 15 years older. As the years go on I'm not sure if our bodies will pay a price with all that kneeling and bending over etc! I am waiting for the Flooret samples, but will keep my eye on Flor.com maybe for another room in the future! Once we decide I'll need help with paint colors unless SW Alabaster will work with all. @HU-796072056 Hello! I chose the bambino because of the color I was looking for, the budget, the low foot traffic in my house. I have no kids or pets in the house. I was aware of it being 5.5mm. For more peotection, I recommend 7.7mm+. I’ve had my first incident where I dropped a knive on the kitchen, by accident, and it hit the floor with the sharp point and it made a small cut. I realized it’s very thin. I’ve placed area rugs where I spend more time doing things and could drop object by accident :). I’m clumpsy! Also, all my furniture have protection to avoid damage when moving them. Like anything, it‘s just taking care of it. I do have to say, if I do it again, i would demolish the old floors in the whole house and then be able to place the planks on the floor before installing since some of the knots are too close together. the installees where going room by room and i was able to be here. it would have been more days of installation and at that point I let it go. The installers tried, but it was hard since the plank design repeat every 10 planks and have an open floor plan. if you get a chance, tell your installers (if not you) to place them on the floor ahead of installation that way you can avoid that. keep that in mind in case you need extra days. My installers were not designers. Now I know:).
