Need help with island light fixture
Comments (2)I really like the second one and it's the largest at 48 inches wide. I suggest get that one and incorporate leaves somewhere else. I have seen little table lamps on countertops that add a nice touch. If you want one that looks just like the inspiration I suggest find a local metalwork shop and get a quote for making one. A local lamp store could order three shades with that look. I had a great experience meeting in person at a large local lighting store with the residential lighting manager. With my inspiration photos she was able to show me great looking fixtures in all her catalogs and chose my island light with me. Good luck. Comments (8)I found a couple additional fixtures which are similar to the Visual Comfort one I posted previously and one from Pottery Barn where the shade has a similar shape to the pendants. I am also going to repost the previous favorite one so that are all on one post. I think I am leaning towards order the Visual Comfort one but would love to get more opinions. Visual Comfort Original Visual Comfort Barbara Barry Westport Hudson Valley Pottery Barn - this one but in bronze instead of brass Also, I took some photos of the family room. It is more full than normal with the Christmas decorations. What color do you think would work for the banquette cushions? What color chair would you replace with wood ones with? For the banquette and chairs I really need some type of leather or vinyl because my little kids (1.4, 3.5, 5.5) are messy as you expect. I also need help with furniture and decorations for the family room. With the dark furniture, dark wood coffee and end table, and the wood floors in this house it is just too much darkness. I haven't found I rug I like and desperately need one but don't really know what would look good. I will probably also post in the home decorating forum. Any insight you all have is much appreciated. sprtphntc - I don't know if I want up or down lighting. I think there is enough light in general that we don't need down lighting. I had looked through HF's website of all of the chandeliers and none of the stood out to me other than the one I posted. If you have one which you think would work well in my space, let me know and I will take another look....See MoreI need some help on lighting fixtures?
Comments (1)I can only have one fixture but when I had it wired I had the brace put it for an extremely heavy fixture. It is so dark on the porch and I'd like something thats not so easy to find, nothing such as from home Depot or Lowe's. However I am still renovating and can't go too expensive. Right now, an interior Victorian light fixture is being used that was rewired, however only the middle light bulb has the wiring. It just looks like it's not an exterior light. I'm in a historical district on a main road. The historic district called it a Victorian with Greek revival. Please what do you think?...See MoreNeed help choosing light fixtures for old house
Comments (10)Thank you all for the great suggestions! BeverlyFLADeziner, I appreciate you taking the time to find specific examples. I’ve seen lots of your posts over the years and the ideas you share are always top-notch. You’re all helping me focus on pulling things together in a more cohesive way. I’ll go through houzz photos to see what else I can find. einportlandor, thanks for the helpful links - lots of great stuff there. Now I’m distracted by all the cool hinges and hardware on the last site you posted! I’ll try to find good photos of my interior, but its current state really does not show how I’d like things to look. I do have lots of hideous light fixtures from the 80s, though. And that was not a good era ;)...See MoreSarah Wilson
