I need opinions - Which countertop should I choose?
Comments (22)Thank you all for your opinions! I think I will go with the basalt slate. Can anyone who has laminate recommend what edge to get. I like the more modern look of the square edge but dont want to deal with the brown line. I was thinking of getting the D edge which looks almost square but without seam. The only problem is the layout of my kitchen I have a peninsula and I dont think that edge can go around a corner seamlessly. My layout of the counter is an L shape where the peninsula is the bottom of the L. Does anyone have experience with this? I want to avoid as many seams as possible. Here is a picture of the D edge....See MoreWhich Option Should I Choose?
Comments (26)Update I contacted Carrier and they confirmed that the 24ACC6 is still in production. I did get prices on the 24ANB7 and 24VNA960 and after rebates both are within $50 of each other. The VNA960 is the cheaper one. Both of these units are approximately $1200 more after rebates then the 24ACC6. I currently have a 10 seer and going to 19 seer would be a big difference. My electricity rate is .094 for Power Supply and .056 for Delivery. Not sure how this would calculate out for savings. We use our air June through August most of the time and some in May and September. Is it worth spending $1200 more to go to the VNA960 which is higher seer, quieter, works better with my infinity furnace/AC. I am going with the Carrier Infinity 96 59TN6, Cased N evaporator coil, bypass humidifier and Infinity Thermostat SYSTXCCITC01-A, 10/10 warranty on both. Just need to match the right condenser. I have another call with the contractor Monday to talk about the load calc. He feels confident in the 120k BTU and 5 ton AC. He said the cost difference for 100k BTU is $135 and for 4 ton AC is $400 on Infinity and $150 on Performance. Appreciate all thoughts. Thanks. Comments (6)I've found that regular white LED bulbs work as good, maybe slightly better than red+blue LED lights. It's true that red+blue can theoretically be more efficient, but with most of the cheap red+blue grow lights out there, I don't think they will really be that much more efficient than a cheap white LED bulb. In any case, efficiency gets kind of irrelevant when your plants can benefit from the extra heat. (All lights are actually 100% efficient, it's just that some of them convert more of that energy to heat rather than light than others) So to rephrase this another way, it would make no sense to use a "more efficient" light if an electric heater was also being used at the same time. Anyway, there's some reason to believe that using a mix of red+blue and white together may be better than either alone, so you could always save some money that way. I've had a tropical camellia species do extremely well under just a 5000K white LED bulb, and citrus has also done well under just white light....See MoreWHICH DURASEAL FLOOR STAIN SHOULD WE CHOOSE!?
Comments (7)I'd pick top left if I had a space that could go that dark-but I have a house of neutral white walls and lots of cool tones. Do you have an end result inspiration pic to help guide your cool vs warm tone? Sort of odd to pick one in isolation not knowing what other choices will happen in the space....See Morelisaam
