Master Bedroom decorating ideas

Very plain master bedroom with dark hardwood flooring. All walls are painted. Bed is positioned under a window. Looking for ideas and/or suggestions on how to spruce this up. Was thinking of doing an accent wall behind bed. I feel like I lean toward rustic, traditional, French Country or farmhouse style. Open to anything really, just not modern. Like things warm and cozy feeling. Thank you!

Ok my first thought is:

you said warm and cozy and this room is rather cold and leaning to modern so I am very confused lol.

You need to fake it with the window, make it appear to take up more space and give the feeling of a headboard. I would also add some lamps to the nightstands and pull those closer to the bed. and possibly but a bench at the end of the bed. Then bring in some color in the artwork and throw pillows.

Rather than an accent wall behind bed, what about drapes? They would help with the coziness factor. Take them to the ceiling and at least as wide as the bed, perhaps as wide as nightstands. The concepts in these photos need to be combined but they illustrate the point:

Thalfmann...very pretty...we can change up the pillows to solids with one accent pillow in a pattern....love the idea of the deep peacock blue with ivory and black...walls look more tan toned than taupe....Let me find a rug with a bit more tan in it...

I'm in agreement with most of the above. Remove all the "littles" - things you can carry in both hands like the square mirrors above the doorway to the sunroom, the pieces above the bed, the vase of dried stuff, the rug by the mirror, the two tiny bedside lamps. Consider replacing the nightstands with floating shelves and some wall mounted corded swing arm lamps. If it will fit, I'd hang that big art above the bed and start shopping for accessories in those rich colors. I'd prefer sheer curtains hung in the sunroom to filter the light. Then put linen or silk panels in the bedroom. Did you ever try the bed in front of the two windows? I think your bench is too small for that wall or for the scale of the bed; try it in the sunroom, hall or foyer.

To make the transition with the too wide headboard and your windows I'd recommend drapery panels to back up the setting. You'll see is the other photo I selected a tufted headboard that stepped down on the sides so there isn't such a barrier to the back windows and I still added drapery panels. Too many 90 degree corners with the tray-tray ceiling and the saying above the bed and the headboard so I have eliminated some of them with a sunburst mirror or arch of some type over the headboards. I know that people insist on fans, but I have replaced all my ceiling fans with air shower fans that I can hide in the corner of the room or behind a piece of furniture. I'm able to use ceiling lights, the air shower fans are not as drying as sleeping under a ceiling fan and the air is still circulated.

A big window in master bedroom closet and none in the master bedroom

Guessing the window is there for curb appeal on the front façade. Have you drawn a mock up to see what that would look like? Sky light /solar tubes add TONS of natural light!! Gotta wonder who the architect was and if it would be cheaper to move the closet so the window is part of the room, than mess with outside walls!!
