Help me decide. Mirror or picture over mantle.
Comments (30)After seeing the room, I have to say I like the first picture of the Seine better. I can't tell what colors are in the rug, but what about using a fabric wall hanging rather than a picture or a mirror? To tell the truth, my eyes glazed over from staring at this one when I saw it on ebay; at first glance, it might seem too primitive for your refined room, but properly hung, I think the contrast would be smashing. Here is a link that might be useful: Wonderful handworked wall hanging...See MoreMirror size on mantle
Comments (8)Dear sdifeo, please don't be offended, but IdaClaire and others are so right. The giant clock creates this weird focal point. It's all you see at first and the room looks like little shrubs underneath. When you like something, it doesn't mean it fits in your house. Learned that myself the hard way. I'd like to compliment you with your gorgeous dining table. Take that as your best piece and work from there. I do not understand your choice of chairs around it though. In itself the mirror is the right size. But you have to be sure it doesn't lean back or forward in order not to get a weird reflection of the ceiling or floor. And, to be honest (which will help you most), I believe it is not up to the standard the dining table is setting. Looks a bit cheap next to it. Since your windows also mirror quite well, to me it becomes a bit much in the evenings. So I agree with Sabrina Alfin, that a tall narrow sculpture or vase would probably be best....See MoreLady's Mantle - Have you noticed this, too?
Comments (10)It's funny--I have some in the same bed and the ones on one side of the bed are amazingly lush and the other ones are 1/4 of the size. Same thing at my last house. I didn't think there was that much difference in the amount of light, but what else can it be? LOL - I saw on Dave's Garden website that they are prolific self-seeders. I can say that has never happened in my yard....See MoreTall entry mirror to match tall door??
Comments (10)Just a reminder that the door is not on the same wall as the mirror. The mirror is on the wall perpendicular to the door. We were limited to making a 2D representation, and could not find a way to show the door on one wall and the mirror on the adjacent wall. So, it is less likely to overwhelm the door as the mirror is not right beside the door. I believe the mirror will reflect the door, though....See MoreLisa Dipiro
