I think the Cherry will look nice. The style of the pieces you pick will determine if it will be more on the casual or formal. So if the style is simple, it will work well with your casual look. I suggest you also post this in the Home Decorating forum. It moves quicker and you'll find the people there are very good at giving advice.

Ah...now I remember....I clicked on your pic and saw the pictures in your album. It really documents well the process you used to decide on art work. The thing that sets your home apart are the little details. The scarf on the piano and the throw in just the right place and the varied art work. All of it is balanced and just lovely. Your home comes across as being much older. It is very graceful . I think a glass room/conservatory/orangerie would be a wonderful addition. Here's how it looks in my living room, although all you can really see in this photo is the floor, which is the original oak from when the house was built in 1950. My brother said the table looks like the floor, and the color does look very similar, even though the woods are different. I had to take the photo with a flash. I believe the rhinoceros is African teak, but the seller (eBay) did not specify wood or origin. I especially like Grete Jalk tables, but I do think they are a bit more common although they are still more expensive since they are made in Denmark. My dining set (also walnut) is an American copy (1960) of a Hans Wegner design, and if it were Danish instead of American, it would be worth 5-10 times as much. I bought it at an estate sale in my neighborhood from some dealers from Palm Springs. I bought other furniture at that sale, and once I paid the asking price for the dining set, they sold me the other furniture very cheaply, as they did not want to have to haul it back to Palm Springs, where they could not get as good a price.

Can you post a link? Two things to take into account with future purchases. --Make sure the wood in the coffee table harmonizes with your wood floors. --The room is small, so something up on legs won't take up as much visual space as a solid coffee table, ottoman, or trunk. Can't tell from your photos if the floor trends toward driftwood or golden oak, but a variation of something like this, or a glass table if you get a great rug will work. P.S. Changed my mind about position of the print chair in the corner. It might look more welcoming to have it face into the room within reach of your future coffee table.
