Can you use a refrigerator panel that does not have a top rail?

We are planning kichen cabinets that often have a shared applied molding. In our plan for drawers, the top drawer and bottom drawer will have a shared molding that continues from top drawer to the bottom drawer. by doing this the top drawer does not have a bottom rail and the bottom drawer does not have a top rail.

Here is our design dilemma...Can we do this on the two bottom refrigerator drawers? Is it okay to attach the drawer pull to the middle of a drawer panel that does not have a top rail? Bottom two drawers
