Considering using oak flooring to create ceiling box beams - that ok?

We want to add 6 ceiling beams to our home but had been chasing the right look for a while. We investigated about every foam beam option but couldn't trust how they'd look in long runs and never fell in love with one particular look / finish that is offered. While at an Airbnb, we saw someone had created 6x7 beams seemingly using an oak flooring product that was the exact look we were after. Their runs are about 15 feet so there is a seam which I thought would bother me but seeing it in person, it's not bad and I didn't mind it at all. So I found a great looking engineered oak flooring option at our local lumber store that has this same look and was going to have our contractor build box beams out of it with mitered edges. My only thought is the flooring is rather heavy and with our 16 foot runs for all 6 beams, will be quite heavy overall. Is there an easier way to go about this I'm not considering where we could find a similar look with less thickness / weight that we're getting with a flooring product?
