Will Green Seed Pods be Viable?

frankielynnsie

I waited for all the hosta to go to splitting-open-seed-pods stage last year and just spread stalks around in part shade woodlands. Nothing came up, so this year I think I will cut all except the unusual leafed ones off now. They have very developed green pods so if I toss them in the woods will they maybe have viable seeds?

My hosta beds are so stalky bending everywhere looking and not too attractive. Now that it has stopped raining I want to make it look better. I am leaving the ones that haven't finished flowering yet for the hummies. I tried to get some pictures of the hummies visiting the hosta flowers but they were too far away and too fast.
