I was gone all afternoon yesterday, and when I saw this in the evening, I was too tired to even try to figure out any but the easy ones that jumped out at me. As of now, looking at it for the first time today, I have all but A2, and D2 and 3. C3 is also kind of 'iffy'. But I haven't really studied them yet.

Ack, after googling ”recruiting” and ”fraction” i found that ”fractional recruiting” is an actual thing! So I settled on that as the D2 answer, But, having lived through my university football team winning a Cotton Bowl but then being handed down the ”death penalty” due to recruiting and other infractions and violations (and, ultimately, why I will never support the Patriots), I should have gotten D2.

(on another note, jasdip, not sure if you follow the CFL, but they now have a woman hosting game nights, Kate Beirness. Awesome.)

For D2 I had two answers - the movie and Pheonix rising.

This was a hard one and took some work. And that's okay.

Oh, those were holes on B-1. I thought they were cubes, thus I thought ice cubes. So I missed three items this time. My worst game.

And I found fractional recruiting too - I tried looking up 'recruiting infractions' and I still have no idea what that is. Not sure what Order of the Phoenix is either. No wonder I couldn't guess those!

As a Harry Potter fan and a college football fan, it helped to get Order of the Phoenix and Recruiting Infractions, and somewhat Backfield in Motion. Thanks for the fun and brain exercise, Jasdip!

I had fractional recruiting, too. Lots of Harry Potter watched in this house, but I’ve never settled into it. Sounds familiar now that I’m reading it but I’d have never remembered on my own.

I did not get Order of the Phoenix. I am trying to remember what I came up with yesterday but it wasn't that. I did learn something in people here talking about googling phrases. That is how I got Backfield in motion. Had no idea other wise that was a song. Thanks BL.

Yes, I got the phrase but didn't know what it meant. Jasdip mentioned it was a song so googled it and sure enough - it was a song. This particular game I learned something - so that was a bonus.

This was my worse puzzle so far. I had running a temperature for B3 and missed all the D's.

I was way off base for C3! I had "more than I can fit in", which I guess really isn't a common phrase anyway.

Fractional recruiting immediately came to me since I'm familiar with the term; I had never heard of Order of the Phoenix (just looked it up) so didn't get that; and I actually had 'broken tailgate', so missed that one, too. 75%....still passing, but won't be bragging anytime soon!

I haven't read any Harry Potter, I don't know anything about it. To me, the Phoenix has to do with mythology, I had 'Phoenix rising' for C2. Had a couple of off the wall thoughts for C3, all of which were incorrect. Did have 'recruiting infractions'' for D2, simply because the word 'recruiting' is surrounded by fractions, no idea what it means, other than I thought it had something to do with football. But then, I thought 'backfield in motion' was football related, too. Never heard of that song. No, I'm definitely NOT a football fan, but my husband was, so I heard a lot of it over the years.

For Order of the Phoenix, i could swear i haven’t read or seen it, but my sons tell me we did both together. o well. I must have kept it subliminally, because given the word on the ledt and the order on the right, I finally thought out loud ”what difference does it make what order Phoenix is in?” Of course, there are always cultural references that i hVe not participated in but where i still know the term, because sometimes I come out from under my rock. lol (I still don’t know anyone on the Grammy awards, though!)
