Should mini pumkins and bush green beans have more than one main stem?

I am new to gardening and started several veggie plants this summer. I bought a mini pumkin starter and bush green bean starter from Lowe’s, both Bonnie brand. I transplanted them into large containers on my balcony. Both are growing really well but i have noticed the pumpkin has 2 main stems sprouting from the soil and the green bean has 4. I’m wondering if this is normal or it means they were not thined prior to me purchasing them. Should I cut out some of them or leave them be?
