Will this Taj Mahal slab also look good for the backsplash?

Next up: Backsplash with Taj Mahal
Comments (17)I finally chose my countertop slabs last week, and they are Taj Mahal, but it’s not like most of the TM I’ve seen. It has veins of white quartz and lots of criss-crossing lines. It was so stunning in person that I was able to easily let go of my Cristallo Quartzite on hold at another slab yard. I’ve carefully read through all of the threads concerning what backsplash to use with TM, and today I found this tile measuring 3” x 12” by DalTile, at Home Depot. It’s so inexpensive, and it matches my SW Alabaster paint perfectly! I was leaning toward a more hand-made look for my tile, but this will be the one if I don’t find something better, and I’ll install it in a herringbone pattern. The TM sample doesn’t look much like my slabs, but it did match the grayish tones in them. I’m thankful for all of the input, because I probably would have chosen something with more of a pattern, and the TM needs to be the star!...See MoreTaj Mahal Kitchen Counters - best cabinet colors and backsplash
Comments (18)We used BM White Dove In different sheens on the walls and woodwork to complement the polished TM Counters (but we have natural wood cabs). Our kitchen has north facing windows with lots of green trees. We compensated for the low light with 3000K (the warm-ish colored not the blue-ish colored) LED undercab and in cab lighting and sconces etc. The updated kitchen doesn’t seem dark or gray now which I was concerned about. I would definitely wait until you have the cabs installed, the counter in and some of the lighting wired in before choosing the backsplash. I was very surprised at how my original white tile choices didn’t do a thing for my counters and cabinets. good luck!...See MoreTaj Mahal quartzite on the countertops and backsplash?
Comments (3)We were considering this for my Dad’s kitchen but he changed his mind to tile. I really wanted him to do the Taj for the backsplash! While deciding I met with the fabricator to discuss the plan and we worked carefully to avoid any Sean’s in the backsplash. A seam will be more visible and obvious when its vertical. Since you say it’s a small area, hopefully it’ll be easy to accomplish. Just something to keep in mind as you move forward....See MoreIs Taj Mahal counters too busy for Zellige tile backsplash
Comments (9)Many on this forum have a fear of mixing anything but plain subway with Taj Mahal ... and most of them have never designed a kitchen with TM! Depending on the slab of TM, it can actually look quite muted and "boring" once installed. Some people like mixing color and/or pattern, and others don't, buy it doesn't mean that both design styles can't work. These are some of my favorites. Not white cabinets, but the bold tile fits with the TM and the rest of the overall design of the house. I used this marble mosaic with my TM and BM Chantilly Lace cabinets. The brown marble ties into the wood floors, wood ceiling beams and brown veins in TM....See MoreTracey Simpson
