I remembered what I forgot -

The missus went back to Illinois to visit her 93-year-old mother (yes, it was planned a long time ago and her mom still lives independently), so I have accomplished a couple of things that I have not done in many years.

One: chips and dip. I have a quandary, I bought a bag of ridged chips and a tub of French Onion Dip. The dip is gone and I still have lots of chips left. Now, I can buy more dip, but then I will run out of chips and then I will have to buy more and more and more.

I had forgotten about all of these kinds of dilemmas. This old age stuff is really getting to me - I think!!

Hahaha, that's a first world problem for sure Jim! The ridged chips are delicious inside a ham sandwich :-)

Flora UK-- Thanks for your post. I will look up the Fabaceae you mentioned. This other picture is what the little red-tinged seedling looks like grown. It does not shut at night, nor retract when touched. Stray seed does sound entirely possible since the pots have been out all winter and we've had lots of wind and rain. I keep remembering seeing these things when I weed the yard, but I can't remember what it might be. We have palm (not that)and eucalyptis (don't think that's it). This is a semi-arid island (Southern California). I looked up the Fabaceae family--nothing looks familiar. The small seedling has these red-edges of the leaves even when very small. Thanks again. I can always wait a few years and see what it is! Lora

There were just those two that were that big.... the rest he picked were just normal medium sized onions and smaller... but these two were really big... and juicy sweet too.. Got to find out where the neighbor got his sets from too..I would like to plant sets like that next spring...

I see the similarity. I have a fig tree but the leaves are more rounded and not as elongated. Plus, I'm sure I had no fig seeds. It's possible that I put a dried fig into the pot, but then the leaves in the pot should be just the same as on my tree. The leaves on my tree are lighter, much rounder and fuzzy.

Buy a container of sour cream and a package of dehydrated onion soup mix to make the appropriate amount of dip, if it runs low just blend more. This way you can make the dip to your taste and it's always much creamer than the store brands which are usually to thick and breaks the chips.

I know this sounds crazy, but it's possible to eat chips without dip. Try it.

The chips are also good inside a tuna salad sandwich ;0) Or used to scoop/eat the tuna mix instead of dip....just saying....

I run into this problem every Christmas with trying to manage the cranberry sauce and the turkey portions. You have my sympathy with your dilemma.
