Placement of the shower is not the only issue. Do you want kids and adults going into the house with wet suits and feet to use the bathroom? Outdoor showers work well for removing chlorine and or salt, but that is only a fraction of what a bathroom would be used for. Hot summer days with drinking and swimming would make a toilet more important than a shower. A cabana gives a place for dressed guest to change without going into the house and to hang wet towels after swimming is over. Yes you have to cleanup after everyone leaves, but the mess is not in your house. A few people we know with pools wish they had a bathroom with toilet outside to keep the wet guest out of their house. If it is in the budget and doable then consider building one.

Meeting code can be interesting. The landscape lighting set you found most likely has a transformer that plugs into a receptacle and the manufacturer feels they fall under cord and plug connected equipment NEC article 680.7. They have to stay 10' away. The 2002 NEC 680.22 (B) (4) says no lighting closer than 5' to the pool and from 5' to 10' it must be GFCI protected. It says more but this pertains to what you asked. I feel a landscape lighting system would fall under this if the transformer were to be permanently hardwired and GFCI protected. Some brands of transformer are designed to be either cord and plug connected or hard wired. You should talk to your local inspector since they have final say.

that is AWESOME. just awesome. question - we are in the process of choosing appliances for our outdoor kitchen (will be nothing near as cool as yours, sadly) and are wondering about an icemaker. i see that you have one - do you love it? does it work well and meet your expectations? how much ice does it make in a day? we've been told by one builder that they don't tend to last very long or don't make the amount of ice one would expect. really, i'd be happy with just a large freezer that would hold ice and keep it frozen that we could dip into to make blender drinks.. thanks for any info - :)

It depends on what you mean when you say outdoor space with an oven and a fridge. How big are you thinking? What kind of materials? Will it be covered? Will it be attached to the house or separated? What do you mean by oven? Like a wood fire pizza oven? or an oven like you have in your home? Maybe provide some pictures of what you'd like to have, and what you currently have so we can give you a better idea of what it would take.
