I am happy to share my experience with Ethan Allen Sleeper sofas hoping it will help others. We bought a Paramount Sleeper Sofa in 2013. In 2017 we noticed that the front pad that supports the cushions was bulging out (see photo). We contacted Ethan Allen and they said that because the problem was not in the frame, it was out of warranty. I looked at other pieces of furniture in our home and I noticed that the EA sofa, unlike other items, had a very “squishable” pad to support the cushions. We told EA that the sofa is seldom used (at most 20 times per year) and that my husband an I are not heavy and felt that there must be a problem with the design or construction. The final decision came in an email, from which I copy directly: “In conjunction with our warranty department, Jenn and I have carefully reviewed each of your questions and concluded that the sofa is up to our manufacturing standards.” We were told that our only option was to buy a replacement pad and pay a technician to replace it. When the pad arrived it was tightly rolled in a box (see photo). How is this soft pad supposed to support the weight of someone sitting on it? As I wrote EA, the sleeper and frame are “great”, unless one sits on the sofa. Not a good thing... for a sofa. And certainly not good “manufacturing standards” for Ethan Allen.

Oooh... more responses. So a bit more information... I'm just a single guy with no pets or kids, but I do have a roommate. So wear and tear won't be excessive, though depending on how much I like to sofa it may have to deal with permanent imprint marks from me lying on it all the time. I also do host people over occasionally though I wouldn't say all the time. Here's the layout that I'm planning to make on this thread (and attached the photo). Dimensions aren't exact but I would look at getting the same set for all the sitting pieces on the west (left) side of the photo). I just got off the phone with Carolinachairs. I told them I liked the restoration sofa and they commented how it's very similar to the Henley they have. Right now she's going to look for some photos about what sort of changes they would look at to have it look more like the restoration sofa: · round out the top cushions more to make them less angular · foam core vs foam core + down fill to provide some of the overstuffing look from the restoration sofa Any other thoughts on things that I should be looking out for? Some may ask at this point why not buy the restoration since I'm now changing one couch to try to make it look like another. The frank answer is pricing... carolinachairs can do it much cheaper and my hope is with almost the same level of quality (they made at least the checks on kiln-dried hardwood, corner blocks, and 8-way tied springs). Their model is build to order, so a couple of these customizations I'm expecting to be relatively cheap for them to do. And I'll have to double check dimensions to make sure it works well for my space.

OMG I love those Medallion kitchen cabinet doors! I've gone so far as to replicate them. I LOVE LOVE LOve their lines! I've had a pic of them forever, and have not given up on the idea of buying the doors for other cabinetry. My replicas are pretty darned good, though. LOVE them. I also live and breathe for inset cabinetry. It makes me go, "ahhhhooooooohhhhhhaaaaaaaa..." I disagree with FriedaJane that there is "a lot of lost space" with inset cabinetry. This has been beaten to death, but once the inset cabinets are put together, they're brought out to match the 12.75" "standard" cabinets, which makes the inside space the same. I'm here to tell you. Plus, if you were to order them, you can order them as deep as you'd like. (Brian @ The Cabinet Joint.com does it for me, yet the ones I've picked up at the H4H were the same depth!) A couple of commercial (Norcroft) base cabs I bought before I knew any better have really stupid upper drawers: 3" tall. Just look at that and get what you want. I've never heard that independent carpenters can't make frameless. It's so much easier than inset, because there's so much less precision. I'm one, who has no set, follow-the-lines design style. I think you can achieve a combination of the items you enjoy, and it'll look collected, vs. purchased. I feel sorry for people who buy the showroom and talk about their "eye." I must admit, that table is over the top fancy and oh, so fun. Right now I'm negotiating a butt-ugly armoire on CL. It's so ridiculously contrived it makes me laugh every time I look at it. Someone has painted it, so it's fancy-ness is somehow under control, but again, so over the top. If I get it, I'll make it work and love it. I really look forward to seeing what you bring together!

I loved the Montana fabric but I think ur right still too red and when I went by there today after closing the window treatments that are up and YES I am keeping them, for now anyways and maybe for good, are you guessed it, red and cream. So I guess I really need to go with the other neutral colors... I’m loving golds, creams, sage greens.... I will be there tomorrow waiting on a fedex delivery of bed so I will take some pics and post later this week.... no internet yet.
