uneven ceiling with ceiling fan gap

Colleen Mattson

I had a friend install a ceiling fan today and there is a small (1 cm or so) gap on one side tapering to direct ceiling contact on the other side. The ceiling is obviously uneven, even to my untrained eye.

The fan has a very slight wobble with a ticking noise. Is there something that we can put between the fan and the ceiling to even out the installation against the ceiling so that it doesn't wobble. Will a medallion do the trick? Or is there padding that works or do I need both the padding and a medallion? Please, at 70, I use what help I can get, and sometimes it is not affordable to hire a licensed bonded person when a friend can help.
