Hey everyone, here are some pics of my stairs (please excuse the mess in the first pic, it was Christmas morning a few years ago, I was taking my daughter to see all of her presents and my parent's were up visiting) the second photo is of the wall next to the stairs in my living and the 3rd one is my son standing in front of the stairs last Halloween. The other set of stairs are in the kitchen. I would love to be able to be able to cut into the wall between the stairs and open it up a bit with a nice banister and some railings because we are also going to convert our garage into another room as well so I would really like everything to flow together better, but I know that is a lot easier said than done. I would also like to do something on the side of the stairs with the closet next to it. Any ideas on a way I can update them? I can post some pics of both sets of the stairs later without anything if front of them but at the moment there are a lot of big toys in my living room.

We have a storm door with a full pane of glass. It allows you to see our lovely door, but lack of a crossbar in the Middle means fingerprints unless you are super careful to just touch the frame. When the screen is in, lack if a crossbar in the middle means you risk stretching or tearing the screen. Also, we have these plastic things that hold the screen or storm in. You can see manufacturer videos about how easy it is to switch, but the plastic has no pliabilty so it's such a miserable job, we often leave the storm in all year. We haven't put the screen in yet, despite tempsin the 90s a week or so ago. So, chech how easy it is to swap screen and storm and in person, not just on a video.

Stay with me here for my mind's process. What I see from the drawings, if I am reading them correctly, is on the back side of house, you are capturing the left balcony, and completely tearing off the roof, and adding a new one at a lesser slope to meet the front existing wall. The existing right balcony will remain, and that railing will be extended across the new wall on the left to create a faux railing (there is no balcony shown in side view). The roof will be extended over this faux railing (with no balcony) and detailed with brackets. More brackets are installed under this faux railing (with no balcony), so these are only applied in 2D. Why the introduction of the overhanging roof and brackets on the back when the design language does not contain it on the sides or the front? So if you were to "apply" some sort of similar design on the sides, it would likewise be in 2D. That would appear "faux," and not contribute to positive aesthetics. Likewise, why are you continuing the existing roof's rake eaves onto the sides, when that language does not fit the clerestory design? If I am reading the drawing wrong, or they are incorrect, then my verbage is moot, but the end reasoning is the same. The aesthetics should derive from the plan/roof/massing, and anything else would seem "faux." As it exists now, the sides are cohesive with the overall design language.

Your house has a great mid-century modern vibe. I would emphasize that, and relocate to the back yard any country-style decor items such as the half-barrel planters, candles and white rocking chairs. @J from Lakes Country nailed the look. The dark brown of your front door looks great with your stone and brick colour. Could the front window be painted the same colour? Some oversized house numbers in a modern font would be attractive. Agree that new landscaping would give it a big lift. The bare-stemmed shrubs could be replaced with evergreens, and that bed be made deeper for more impact. Taller evergreens on either side of the window. Grasses and "architectural" plans such as spiky yucca would look great in front of the evergreens, or in modern-style pots like the one to the left of your front door. https://www.atomic-ranch.com/architecture-design/landscape-design/midwestern-landscaping/ When a new roof is needed, go with a dark brown to complement your stone and brick.
