Our experience - we used to drain our pool every year due to hard water issues. We would refill the same day, which took 24 hours to fill. Always did it in the early spring here in Las Vegas. 6 years ago we drained it and left it empty for 5 days, then refilled it. Within a week we noticed delamination of the plain white plaster in many areas that got a lot of sun, not down to gunite, but rough areas where part of the plaster fell off. We lived with it for a year and resurfaced the pool with a mini pebble. Haven't drained it since, but due for this year and we will refill immediately. Barb

Hatteras Gray does not have any green hues. The coloring is mostly blue. In the shade, it has a deeper shade of blue. You could call CLI, who make Hydrazzo, and ask them about blending another of their standard colors to create the green your looking for. Jamaican Mist is a standard color which appears to have some green. You would have to look at the actual sample to make a determination. Their other line of plaster Krystalkrete, has some colors that require a blend of several colors for a particular result. So the possibility to blend Hydrazzo colors, is an option. They can create special order colors as well.

We use CL Industries products-Hydrazzo, Krstylekrete, etc... It's best to see pools in person over photos on the web. The French Gray will cast a darker color as the pool depth changes. It's pretty much inherent of any of the French Grays out there or a similar grays. You can see in that photo the gray is predominant on the sunshelf and notice the color change in the deeper water. It will have a different cast if a portion of the pool is in sunlight or the shade at different times during the day.

Forgot to say, I'm going with PebbleTec White Pearl. Our previous house only had a large spa and that was resurfaced in plain white plaster. The water still looked a pretty light blue. We are using Shellock Pavers in Ivory around the pool and it is a good complement to the PT White Pearl.
