I LOVE the idea of an awesome and unexpected color for the door. I have mocked up some turquoises.. aquas.. and purple. I do think I need something to give it some character but since I am in PA, I need something that will look good all year round. I lean more towards turquoise or purple right now but they may all change when I get some color on. Kelli, I do understand that the shutters draw attention to the windows but I can't imagine just plain ol' small windows either. I am thinking it will look like the outside of a correctional facility lol! I was really torn when I was over again early this morning. I have to admit that I really really dislike a lot of early spring flowers and I just *have* to pull the bulbs because yellow and red doesnt work for me even a little bit. Perhaps I will replant them somewhere less in my face-- or I will offer them to the neighbor who was a good friend to my grandmother and who has even MORE than my house does. I won't cut down the rhodies now-- for one thing, they are full of buds.. for another, I do love them for the 3-4 weeks they are in bloom. I am still loving the sunken patio idea-- discussed it with my bf yesterday and today and he's liking the idea but wants me to check costs and issues related to water drainage before I get my heart set on the idea. Too late. LOL! He likes the idea of a 3 season covered porch but that alone wouldnt be enough for me. I like the sun and I need a place I can grill all 4 seasons (he is NOT much of a griller-- but he's not the food preparer at all. He's the eater! ) I am definitely narrowing in on a gentle brown-- coriander seed or elks horn so far but I'd like to check some of the other color collections. Thanks again for your thoughts.. and OMG love the aqua kitchens but with Anjou Pear on my walls, I think I need to settle for aqua accents. We'll see.. the kitchen remodel is a year from now so we'll see what direction I go.

If you're keeping your countertops, I wouldn't paint the island white. I think it will make the countertops look dingy. I like the color your valance brings to the kitchen. Perhaps pull from that for accessories for countertops. I agree with clearing off the refrigerator if possible. Since your island has an unusual shape, perhaps you could replace your center fixture with a track fixture that will conform to the shape of the island. Then you could attach 3 pendants to it. Changing the red wall to the same color as the other walls will brighten things up a bit. The plant shelf is a great idea. You could also add upholstered stools in a color that coordinates with your valance. A change of hardware would help as well. Perhaps a brushed nickel in a transitional style. I like Jeffrey Alexander hardware. I find it to be a very nice quality but reasonably priced. Mine were about $6.00 each. Hope this helps!

I think a rug under the table would be awkward relative to the traffic patterns. If you get a rug big enough to not look stupidly small, I think that it will partially spill into the traffic paths. Partially spilling over is bad because is could be a trip and fall hazard. I think the curve of the wall and the stairway prevent using a rug that will cover the area under the table AND enough of the walkway. I do agree that a small threshold rug would be nice and practical.

^Agree with deco. The shutters don't belong on your beautiful windows and really detract from your homes appeal. Landscaping is very important when selling. Removing those bushes she highlights will open up your entry and make your home very welcoming. The garage door is drawing all the attention because it is white and looks unpainted. Paint it either the color of your existing siding or a color to blend with the brick. Have your front door stand out with color. You can paint it white just like your sidelites. Or choose an accent color for your front door (leave the sidelites white). You may want to remove the screen door when selling. Removing the RV/camper is critical to opening up your homes appearance. Large address numbers visible from the curb are important. You know where your home is located, agents and buyers don't and can't see the tiny address as shown in your pic. Make sure the front door area is clean and welcoming when you put it on the market. Stage it with simple inexpensive but colorful/friendly welcome mat and a pot of flowers.
