If you're not sure, a great place to start is to use the same white as the cabinets, but in a different sheen (such as eggshell for walls, semi-gloss for cabinets). I haven't heard of Re-Funk Junk, but if it's specifically for cabinets, you can always have the color matched at the hardware store. Then once you live in it for awhile, you will have a better sense of what you want in a color—something brighter? cozier? etc. If you're keeping the same countertops and backsplash, this will also be a good interim step to see what the colors look like once the cabinets have been painted (the difference might be unexpected!)

IMO you may not need to paint the cabinets. That wood looks pretty good with the blue/green walls. What you do need is to replace the builder light fixtures with something that makes a better statement. Decent pictures of your space would help this process. I can't overlay fixtures in pictures that are so very dark.

I agree with @BeverlyFLADeziner's comments. The wood of your kitchen cabinets appears fairly light from the photos. It's not the cabinets that are making your kitchen not the "light and airy" you want. First, and easiest, is to update the lighting. Second would be to change the bulky black counter stools for something much lighter - those are really sucking both space and light. Third would be to switch the black appliances for stainless steel which provides reflectivity, rather than having the black appliances swallow the light. If budget allows, I would change the backsplash, and if the budget allows, the counters. I would do any or all those things before painting the cabinets.

You need to majorly de-clutter. You could paint everything, change everything in your kitchen, but with all the stuff and piles you have everywhere, it still won't look light and airy.

The blinds are shutting out all the light too, which doesnt help with the kitchen looking so dark.
