Urgent help needed — organizing a grazing table
Comments (17)thanks bunch for all the great suggestions! So, here is the update. It was a great gsthering, with people milling around or parking themselves somewhere comfortably, talking, laughing ... As for the grazing table, it was mostly a success. I was seriously running behind and couldn’t do some of the nice finishing touches. The guests had started arriving and I ran to our room to change my shirt and put on a little make-up while my husband attended to the door. I wish I had a little but more time. And I also wish I had taken good pictures. One of the guests was complimenting me on how pretty the food looked and was taking some pictures. I later asked her if she’d mind sending them to me. So, here are some pictures, not very good, and taken while I was still adding some food to the table, but It is what it is. The most important thing is everyone had a great time and overall the house looked beautiful and welcoming. ....See MoreServing boards
Comments (10)Grain direction matters for cutting boards, which most serving boards started as. Didn’t they? So Of course I had to go look at my boards....because this is something I have never thought about. I have 3 here at the lake, none are cut on the bias. I don’t know that I would notice the grain direction of serving boards, now I will. I would not think less of a person for using one to serve. 😊 ....See MoreBaby Shower Help Needed, Please
Comments (23)Lyban, those are great considerations. I have been group texting with the three women who will be co-hosting and we'll be doing a zoom meeting next week. It feels like a group effort so far, but it would be easy for me to want to do it all myself. I'll ask them to create a menu (I'll pay) and figure out decorations and anything else. Maybe one of them should be the RSVP contact? Arcy, you're right, this will be more than a shower, it's more like a , I don't know what to call it! There is now a thing called a "babymoon" which, as i understand it is a trip for the parents right before the baby is born. So is this a Slumberpartymoon? At most, we will have 12 people. Probably less so I'm not too worried about my dd getting too many elephant-themed gifts.I If it was to be a huge gathering, I would probably do something less animal specific. As far as food goes, well, new, more accomodating me is willing to see what my co-hosts come up with. But Annie, your menu does sound delicious!...See MoreSoup recipes II, preferably without spam
Comments (53)Wow so many awesome soup recipes, I’m going to get to some of these. I just bought leeks today to make caramelized leek and mushroom soup. I still subscribe to cooks illustrated but this will be the last time, I find there is to much advertising in it. I love the Food Network, i too used to be a big Epicurious recipe user but not so much now that there are so many other sites. I use allrecipes, Closet Cooking and a few others . I also have a few of Ina’s cook books which I love. I still use cook books and when I find a recipe recipe on line I print it and put it into a book that I have created as my cook book where I can put notes on each recipe. I go through it once in awhile and throw out recipes I don’t think I will use. My recipes are put in plastic sleeves so they don’t get so stained. I like Ina’s Italian wedding soup and I also make a curried ginger coconut carrot soup that my husband won’t eat but my girlfriends love. I start the soup with Frontier Soups ginger carrot soup , this speeds the process up abit. This is such a great topic thank you for starting it....See More- 5 years ago
