Ailing Bonsai Plant: white 'cottony' fungus and falling leaves
Comments (1)You need to try and get a close up of the problem. This picture, good as it is, is about as much help with this problem as a photo of my dog. I am thinking that you do not have a fungus but mealy bugs, or spittle bugs....See Morewhite fungus type thing in asparagus fern roots?
Comments (10)Thanks for the diagnosis, rhizo! I'm relieved to know what it is... I'm planning to remove the plants from the pot, discard the soil, clean the pot thoroughly and rinse off the roots, and repot with store-bought potting mix. Should that be enough or do you think it should be treated with specific anti-fungals? What would those be? Thanks very much, Anchita...See MoreWhite chalk-like fungus/substance on plants
Comments (17)I once had this problem until I started spraying with dawn dish soap and water. Seems to work. Inspect them every couple of days or so and spray generously until gone. It takes work but worth the effort. You should also cut off the infected branches and spray where the growth (closer to roots) starts. This is the area where these bugs live or colonize (so to speak)....See Morecilantro plant developed white fungus

Sunlight and air circulation should be able to solve the situation....See Morepopmama (Colorado, USDA z5)
