Jute rug and cats - trouble or not?
Comments (7)I put down a sisal (similar to jute) rug in the dining room a few months ago. We have 2 cats and 2 teenagers and use the dining room *constantly* so I was worried about cleanliness and cat abuse too. But I'm happy to report that so far so good. The cats do use the rug to scratch but for some reason there isn't nearly as much visual evidence of damage as I saw on the wool rug I previously had down which they also scratched. As for food droppage and stains, nothing so far although I guess that could happen. My daughter vacuums it during her weekly cleaning chores and it seems to clean up fine. Also, not sure about what size you need but natural fiber rugs are relatively inexpensive compared to other types of area rugs. I bought mine from Ikea and they are also widely available online and in stores for not a lot. I paid $150 for mine and it is ~8x10. Here's a picture of the one I have in the DR: Good luck with your decision-and don't get scared away from natural fiber too quickly! Ann...See MoreWould this rug work?

Comments (2)I think the sectional is making this much harder than it needs to be and do you have a TV in the space too . I would like to see an actul pic or two of the space that is how I can see the issues. Right now IMO the layout makes no sense at all....See MoreRelated Professionals
