BUILD 18" deep closet and open shelviing on the fan wall. Nice four foot closet, float shelves, add more left of desks if you like. Partner style.

You get to keep the clothes in there.

I like Jan’s second idea of facing each other with the same desk for symmetry. Wit the furniture “lining the room” on the walls, it feels like a hurricane came through.
And absolutely use the closet for all your office stuff. Shelves and cubby holes are necessary for any working office.

I would not want a desk facing someone else’s desk just because it looks nice on paper or in photos. In fact, I would hope to find a solution where the workers had their backs to each other, or the seating was staggered so the workers were facing opposite sides of the room..

I actually prefer the partner version too. It takes little skill to frame a new closet. At full height, 18 inch interior depth? It wold a ton of doo dad equipment AND the printer. Not too mention all the rest. THE OPEN SHELVES ALONG SIDE? WILL BE OUT OF ENTRY VIEW. Books, family pics...whatever. You won't see dangling cords anywhere and at least one of you shall have a nice outdoor view.

Point is , with the two desks you you can try it either way : )

The most important part of an office is the actual work being done in the office. That drives all the other decisions. When I was a bookkeeper, I worked best with an L shaped desk and surface to hold computer, adding machine, checks, invoices, phone, work in progress, two sizes of envelopes,short and long, specific to my needs. The estimator needed three surface, including a large worktop to hold plans. And two printers, a regular and a wide carriage. The sales force needed a regular desk. We all needed different storage solutions. For my hobby, I have five two-drawer file cabinets, two four-drawer file cabinets, and a rolling table in addition to my L shape desk. An office is for work. Plan it to make you more efficient. Then, let’s worry about cute shelves.

@JAN MOYER: Like your butting together the desk idea because if we go with the row layout where they are stacked next to each other then we end up with this corner where the long wall meets the door wall which is hard to use efficiently, at least from what I can think of. Do you have any ideas on how the corner can be used in case row stacked desk?

For the butt stacked plan the open shelves are after the the 18" deep closet. Is the closet tall going all the way to ceiling or just more like a table. I am wondering if it is a tall one then would it make the open shelving look closed off and the effective floor area smaller in visual perspective?

No law sates you can't repeat BYPASS doors on the new closet : ) Yes, It fully utilizes that wall...hidden and exposed storage/display
