Comments (65)Good afternoon, almost evening! It was a little cool and windy here today, with rain early this morning. Everything is glistening and green. So pretty. I had my first official workout today. I managed to do all the machines twice and lightly jogged in place after every 2 machines. I have to admit that I had to pop some tylenol and take a nap late this afternoon because I did feel the burn and was achy and tired. But, it was fun, and I'll definitely return tomorrow for a light workout. Hubby has a sleep study tonight way over in Houston, so I'll be on my own here tonight. I haven't spent many nights here alone, and it's been since Thanksgiving so I'm a little nervous. These lovely woods start feeling very dark and lonely when it's just Lucky pup and me. QOD: I think I'd like to return as Sweetpea because that little one leads a beautiful life on Suzanne's farm! Jen, so glad to see you posting and that y'all were safe even though you were frightened. BJ, reading about your windows getting washed made me look hard at mine, and I know that I'll be getting around to them sometime very soon. I hadn't realized how rain-spotted they'd gotten until I really looked. McPeg, that washstand has such good bare bones. Can't wait to see the finished product! I'm happy for you to be getting new furniture! This weekend, we're getting a new propane tank for our grill, and I'm thawing out chicken and steaks to rub down and grill for next week's meals. There's just nothing better than grilled meat - and I love the smell of it cooking on the grill. Hope everyone has a restful weekend!...See MoreSS Support Mon. July 19th - Sun. July 25th
Comments (49)Good Morning All, BJ, WOW, what a post. I cannot believe your incredible energy. I have not read or seen the Ya Ya Sisterhood, I suppose I am going to have to now. Might be a nice rainy Saturday afternoon thing to do. But for now I am going to call you Sister of endless energy and enthusiasm! I read every word of your post. Talk about catching up TIMES 10! LOL I am thinking of you too Raeanne, out there in Chicago, Chicago. Hope you are having fun. Too bad you and Gretchen can't hook up. Tikanas, I must have missed some posting as I did not know you were recently widowed. I am not aware of the circumstances but I am sorry to hear that. Sounds like you are indeed being good to yourself. I admire your committment to yourself to get/stay in shape. I have not even had the chance to talk to DH about the retreat. The truth of the matter is that he has not been home but for one evening since this whole thing blew up! He has been away working and when not working taking care of his DS's needs, getting him to court, doctors and dentist. Nicely managing to avoid having to deal with his life here! He calls dutifully every night to make sure things are "alright". We haven't even spoken of therapy or retreats, etc. This is the way it will go too I suspect until he "blows up" again. I am determined to go to this retreat it sounds good. The people who recommended it are the brother and SIL of my good friend who I ride with. I have never met her brother but I know they have had some real issues. Someone suggested this retreat to them and they went. They said that when they got there the looked around and said to each other that there was no way this was going to work and wanted to leave. The impression was that it the husband and wife were real "granola" ,(no offense to anyone), and nuts and seeds 60's type people. BUT they stuck it out and got so much out of it that they are going back for a refresher! The only other complaint was that all the meals were vegetarian. DH is strickly meat and potatoes but I won't even talk to him about the food. So, I hope that DH can find the time to come home long enough to talk to him about this. I have to admit that I feel very lonely lately. I think a big part of it is that I can't ride Sweet Pea and I am sort of cut off from alot of activities.........like the campout this weekend. It will be okay and I will get some fun time in before summer is out. Today I am cleaning all my grooming brushes and cleaning harness and saddle really well so they will be ready for Sweet Pea's return to work! Dosen't that sound like fun! I was going to drive my trailer down into the pasture and set up camp with the horses but my sister told me that was really pathetic!! I am still thinking about it only it's rainy. Marci, I can't believe you have the energy to organize a yard sale! They are a lot of work but I guess there is lots of money to be made. I am doing HORSE LAUNDRY right now. Saddle pads, trail packs, etc. They have to be washed twice!! First load is spinning right now............I will check in later....See MoreAug FOTESS - CELEBRATE ABUNDANCE
Comments (193)Bingo! Sorry I've been AWOL. School started Aug. 19, our Moms In Prayer group started up again (we pray for the schools/students/teachers). We had the Eclipse (Nebraska was one of the best places to view it and lots of hubbub). I attended a training on Native American Children/ICWA Indian Children Welfare Act. Very enlightening. The tribes are a nation within a nation. They have their own courts, social workers, etc. If the tribe chooses to return a child to the household with a parent who is neglectful/abusive the American courts have to let it happen. On the other hand, the Native Americans have a strong culture and often use non-traditional ways to cure drug addiction such as music therapy and animal therapy. My husband had a birthday so we had a party and now he's trying to put together his own business. That's been a life-long dream. Trouble is...he's an entrepreneur and I'm the anchor who keeps dousing him with questions and pieces of reality. I can see where he wants to go, but he can't see the 200 steps he has to take to get there. In his mind he's already there (wherever he sees himself in his video playback in his head). I may need valium. My double click cosmos bloomed! That's been my good news to keep me going!!! Ii got my daughter's video complete from her trip to Japan and got it uploaded to Facebook. Comments (918)Yikes! I am getting behind, and if I don't get caught up, I'll be left behind forever in summer (I can think of worse things). Cori Ann, how wonderful about your acceptance into your first choice of schools. Will you begin soon, or are there more classes to plow through like physics? I love your positive attitude, and I'm sure lots of success awaits you. Meanwhile, we'll all have some fall fun. Like a virtual Halloween party, maybe? I'm sure Jim can supply some gruesome photos! Vampire armadillos, perhaps? Jim, is that some kind of white filament growing under the bark of your Double Knockout rose? I just read on the Antique Rose Forum about oak root fungus in a rose, and the photo shows the white fungus filaments growing under the bark of the infected rose. I guess it can invade roses where it is wet. The thread is entitled Death of a Rose, and the OP was Rosefolly. I'm sorry I don't give a link, but I'm a computer illiterate old lady.....Your photos of Julia and MotH are beautiful. I keep saying you must grow more Julia with those marigolds. Carol, I was getting worried about you again, and am so glad you posted. Phooey on snow already. Our weather turned cold, windy, and wet several days ago, and it's really inhibited blooming and any ripening of cukes or tomatoes. Summer came to a crashing halt. I think the cold continued on up your way. Last year, summer and a warm fall just went on and on. We've had four days straight of light rain which is amazing here. Thank you for your nice rose compliment. How are your flowers and roses doing in the snow? I hope it melted promptly. Kate, I hope you'll be posting in the fall thread. I'm sorry you lost roses to the summer heat. And how are you doing yourself? Ready to plant all those replacement roses? I've got to do some tearing out and planting yet, and it's nearly October. I'll be doing this stuff on Christmas Eve if the weather doesn't let up.....As far as loading a lengthy thread--have you tried just going straight to the bottom of the thread using the "End" button? Some people have to hold down CTrl and End at the same time. I just punch End. Speaking of end, this is the end of this post, and it's onward to fall. See you all there. Diane...See MoreLars
