I don't have a suggestion but that photo of the dog in the recliner makes me want to take a nap right now! I do like the rug you showed as well. Hopefully you will get some good suggestions about the placement of the recliner and accent chair or 2.

You are willing to spend some money, it seems. Would you consider getting rid of the sofa and recliner?

As for the rug shown, how about laying it under the yellow dining furniture?

For a new sofa, choose a blue to match the cabinets. If you are keeping the dining set, use yellow instead of orange as accents.

I don’t really want to replace couches. But not sure what kind of accent chairs go with big cushy sofas.

If you are keeping the cushies, consider another rug. It may be too delicate a look for heavier furniture.

I think I would either bring in a fun, bean bag type lounge chair, and this one is nice -

or one chair in this style.

Would have to check dimensions to make sure the chair is ok scale-wise with your other pieces.

And I would place the new chair to face the fireplace. i would not spend a lot of money on the chair. Both of these chairs are inexpensive. And since you would like to keep the sofa, I would suggest just keeping the recliner, too, since they go together.

I agree. We just moved around couches today. TV is on coffee table just to watch temporarily until we get a flat screen mounted above. When furniture is this way it looks better to my eye a d makes me less feel the need to get an extra chair right away.
