Here is my experience with quartz as far as durability.

I had Silestone quartz installed in a very little used Guest Bath in a home I have since moved from. Though I had a soft water conditioner, I had hard water spots on the quartz I never could get out. I recently bought a home that has quartz "marble" countertops. The previous owner I believe either used a wrong cleaning product on it or something that has made the surface have dull and shiny areas. I called a few fabricators to see if they could polish the surface and they told me no, unlike natural stone. I also knew where it was purchased from and they basically washed their hands of trying to help me. They did ask me if I wanted to purchase granite to replace it even though I never told them I was planning to eventually.

When I do it will be replaced with a granite or quartzite as being on Houzz as long as I have I can spot a quartz a mile away and I personally like the ease of care for natural stone (which I've had in 6 kitchens) and how each piece has it's own personality. If you are already questioning the quartz, then I'd bite the bullet and go with something different. In a few yrs you'll be happier and won't remember how much you paid for it. Also, if a person is steering you towards quartz for durability, you can find quite a few threads and comments here on Houzz that will tell you otherwise and how the manufacturer will not stand behind their product. And like everything, there are many people out there that love their quartz.

Engineered stone and solid surface have never remotely come close to the staining and adhesive bleeding problems associated with quartzite. You'd better personally test the slabs you're considering because you're flirting with a potentially catastrophic mistake if you don't.

I have had Silestone Quartz installed in my kitchen a few years ago and it looks as good as the day it was installed. No chipping, no staining, easy to clean with dish soap and water. Over the years I always use trivets for any hot items I put on my counters. I also had quartz countertops installed on all my bathroom vanities and no issues and they look great❣️
