Hi Kathie, Well, H&M sectionals are never cheap, but they do have a pretty high *wow* factor and hold up year after year. The reason for the confusion is the Downes (1846) series can be purchased different ways. It comes as both a dual loveseat and a dual sofa with the 'corner' built-in, then the more traditional 3-piece sectional of you want larger sizes or want to set it up as a loveseat on one side and long sofa on the other,etc. The photo you are looking at on the web site/booklet is the 2-piece loveseat sectional with the corner 'built in', thats why you are not seeing the three pieces quoted. From what I'm reading you are putting together a 1846LAQ Loveseat on the left, a 1846QR Quarter Round center, and a 1847RAQ sofa on the right, in Class III hides. If that's correct, then your dealer's price for that combo is at least over $ 1,500 higher than I would price it in my store - they're a bit high and at the upper end of normal pricing margins, but not outrageous. H&M has a 5% off sale until March 5th, so if you're serious about that piece try to get your order in by that date. That 5% savings will pay for your shipping. If you can use the Downes series in the somewhat shorter, 2-piece units you'll save quite a bit as you won't be buying the Quarter Round. In this configuration each section is 110" long in the sofa model and you should be able to buy in that class 3 hide for under $ 8,000. Also, if you want to cut the cost some more, there are several hides in Grade II that will knock another $ 700 to $ 800 off the total price. If you're OK with purchasing your new sectional sofa online vs. in a local furniture store then you should check out clubfurniture.com in North Carolina. They have a variety of custom sectionals in fabric (including slipcovered) and leather. They don't have physical showrooms, however, they'll send you free swatch samples of their covering materials. Really nice room. Like the art over/behind the larger sofa. Like the small narrow "end table". Like the large mirror on the angled wall. You could put a wide cabinet with shallow shelves and glass doors beneath the mirror and use it as a curio cabinet. Plenty of natural light. You might try adding a wide storage ottoman as window seating beneath the large center window. Leave that far end of the room out of the equation when "centering" your primary seating area. Create your main seating area by centering it with the STRAIGHT wall (left of the mirror) -- centered across from the tv. Furniture looks to be still in good shape. You really like it, too: " (much to my chagrin!)"? Before parting with sofas you really like that are still in really good shape, consider adding new feet/legs or even castors to them to raise the height. Even if you are not DIY inclined, having a woodworker make them probably would be cheaper than buying new sofas you don't like as well. Not a fan of sectionals; after all, who really likes sitting for extended periods of time without armrests? Sectionals severely limit your furniture placement options. Your round "tables" would make good end tables for each side of your sofa, with a tall thin lamp with medium white shade atop each..

If you want a sectional, it looks like you could have one with the longest section facing the fireplace and either have a short section with its back to the window or opposite that, facing the window. But for placing the recliner so hubby can see the tv, probably back to the window would be best. I would not get a chaise sectional, if you need seating instead of lounging. If you need lounging/tv watching space, then a chaise running along the window would give prime tv view and it wouldn't block the view out the window. Then you could place the recliner (s) facing the window and view the tv - although a 2nd recliner close to the fireplace will have less than optimum view of the tv if there is even room for a 2nd one. You could put the tv on a swing mount so it could be angled more if lots of people are gathered to watch tv. It looks as if you don't have to use that doorway by the tv, since there is another in the dining area? I love a curved sectional for optimum conversation comfort, as well as lots of lounging space: picture the dining room where the painting is here:
