when you furnish a guest room think about places you've stayed and what you expected and also what were added bonuses you didn't really expect. a 12X12 room is a decent size for a guest room. what I expect is 2 night tables on either side of the bed with lighting. you should pull the bed out from the wall to do this. you should be able to walk comfortably around all sides of the bed. a place to put my suitcase, a couple of hangers and a single empty drawer is nice if you are staying longer. someplace to sit to put on shoes or just relax. a small desk with chair used on one side of the bed could take care of all these. even one dresser isn't needed in a guest room unless you need to have it for extra storage of your own. I've seem posts on pinterest with wifi passwords in a frame so they don't need to ask (I haven't done this yet but I think its a great Idea). leave towels in the room and have a second set of good quality sheets to change if you have back to back guests without needing to do laundry between them. I prefer white or off white for all my sheets just easier if you change color in the room to have them not clash. they also just seem cleaner and crisper to me. I like a totally dark room and even blinds don't do that so get some blackout curtains to bring in color and soften the window. any art you like would be nice. you have a great start just keep looking for anything you think would work in the room. i also have a night light in my bathroom that helps show the way and gives enough light that you don't have to turn on the overhead at night.

Warning - two year old post! @adv1984 - your closet renovation looks amazing - hard to believe it was DIY. You must be an experienced DIYer! My master closet appears to be similar to yours. It’s a little over 7.5’ wide (as currently finished + 5-6‘ of eave space behind current walls) x 18’ deep. While I wouldn’t do the work myself, I’m interested in hearing some details - if you wouldn’t mind sharing. First, what are the dimensions of your closet? Did you build everything or use some sort of system? I know that some people have used somehing like IKEA Pax and customized it (and made it look buil-in). My guess is that you made custom pieces to fit into the space. Is the space along the top separately finished for each set of doors - or - did you frame out one continuous space + add sets of doors to access space? Also, I am very interested in how you finished the space behind your built-ins. It appears that you have eave space that runs along both sides of the closet based upon the access doors behind your hanging bars on each wall ( shown in the second and third photos). Does the eave space run along the entire length of your closet walls? I’m trying to get a feel for how many access doors I would need along 18’ wall (if I want to use the entire 18’ of space under the eaves on each side). How long/deep is the space that can be accessed by each door? Wish you lived near me so I could hire you! Thanks!

Maybe the OP can decide what size machines suit his/ her laundry room ;-) One of those Whirlpool machines costs more than the Miele, and both cost more than the Miele which comes to the market next month. I’m not advocating any particular brand, but the other significant advantage for the Miele in an older house is that it does not require a 220v receptacle, which every other electric dryer will. That’s another savings. An old house with stone walls and a slate roof is not without its challenges when it comes to adding amenities. That’s where I do think this particular appliance could make a lot of sense for you. Good luck!

A few reasons for moving the laundry room; first, the majority of the laundry is coming from/lives upstairs so we prefer to not have to haul the laundry up and down stairs to wash then put away (our previous home had laundry on the floor with the bedrooms and we loved it). Second, the current laundry space is pretty sub-optimal taking over the only entrance to the house from the garage and more than anything we need that space for a mudroom/storage. We only need two bedrooms upstair max which is why we're comfortable losing one to become some laundry/bathroom configuration.
